See Through or Detachable Scope Rings for 375 H&H

See-throughs have their place and I personally dont find them to be set too high. I was using my 30-30 in the pouring rain one time, no way to shoot with the scope between the fog and droplets. The see-throughs came through

I don't think they are good for what you are wanting though. Normally they are aluminum, which I would never ever use on a 375; and for the reasons already mentioned, they would be a big distraction on charging game.

I believe that the inventor of the see thru scope mounts was executed back in 1970 for the absolutely most worthless thing to ever festoon a firearm.
He stood in line, right behind the guy who invented this.
Yep, that's a hinged scope mount. o_O

Id look at New England Custom Gun web site ; EAW Magnum Fixed Mount .
They are not cheap but I have been very very happy with them on my RSM(s).

They are a fine mount, but after my first trip to Namibia, which included a night follow-up on a Leopard (fortunately found to be a dead one) with my .338 with fixed mounts, I won't use them on anything going to Africa - particularly for dangerous game. Carrying a wrench to get to one's irons for a follow-up is not altogether practical, and even a big, long-barrelled .338 makes a lousy club.

Sir, Red Leg your right, this is the mount I meant EAW "Quick-Loc"Mounts

the Pivot style.

They are indeed a superb mount for Africa and a dangerous game rifle. I have a set on a favorite Steyr and an OU double.

Well that says it all. A light recoiling rifle with an already limited trajectory. The iron sights being able to come up instantly for quick shots. You won't shoot far enough away that the chinweld will hurt your accuracy.

I wouldn't give anything with real recoil the head start of having my face that detached from the stock. I'd have a dedicated high mount or a QD with removable pad to elevate my cheekweld to find the scope immediately.
