My wife and I had some plans fall through due to C19.
Although initially disappointed, there is always a silver lining.
Spending time with her family is a BIG one...Hog hunting is a bonus.
Our trip is planned for mid-April 2021 for about a week.
We plan on about 3-4 days hunting, and I'll spend more time scouting.

We are staying with an old Navy friend of mine, near Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base.
He's asking around for places to hunt private land with not much success.
All of us are looking to keep costs down so paying for a guided hunt is out.
However we would like to offer some of the harvest to the landowner for their generosity.
We will do it DIY but I wanted to reach out to the AH community for assistance.

My friend, although very pro 2A, hasn't hunted in 30+ years.
Mrs BeeMaa grew up in the area, but not doing much hunting.
She will be reaching out to friend/family for areas to hunt as well.
I've not Hog hunted in GA since the 90's when I lived there.
These factors combine to stack the deck against a successful hunt.
Looking to tip the odds in our favor.
Any help with land to hunt, local knowledge, etc, would be appreciated.

Hog hunting is a Bonus.
Spending time with the In Laws? No, scouting hunting areas might be the bonus,
just saying things might be different here you are.

Truth is her family is awesome.
True Southerners and some of the nicest people.

Another truth...
She'll spend more time with her family.
I'll spend more time scouting and hunting.
We are both aware of this...no surprises here.

Last truth...I wish I could say the same of my family.
It's like having dinner with a bunch of pissed off Badgers.

I'm happy for you, like I said maybe things are different there. Chances are you won't see my in-laws if you visit me,(geography is a factor in my favour) like I'm polite but I don't consider them awesome, maybe Aussies don't always see the mother in law that way. .
All the best though,

Contact the local game warden. He will likely know of some landowners wanting help with their hogs. Day or night hunting? You need a special permit to shoot at night.

Wildlife Managment Areas and National Forest areas...no night hunting.
Also NO baiting in those areas, but I wouldn't have time for that anyway.
Season is year round and there is no bag limit.

On private land, night hunting is allowed.
Lights used by the hunter are also allowed, but have to be "on-person".
Can't be part of a structure or affixed to a pole...etc.

I have night hunted hogs in S GA with thermals. I believe we had to have a permit in addition to our hunting license but I may be remembering incorrectly. We do need a permit in AL and they do not issue them during deer season.

I would check with the warden on land access. I’ll bet he has some leads.

@WAB
Excellent idea of speaking to the local Fish & Wildlife Officer.
Appreciate it.

The state laws say night hunting is legal on private land.
It says nothing about a special permit or license for night hunting.
However, we both know that local laws will supersede these.
Again, I'll double check with GA DNR F&W.
