Schmidt Bender West German 30MM 1.25-4×30MM Straight Tube. Has German #4 Reticle.Only 10.5" long (15 Oz) and is in Great shape..a few small nicks but nothing through the finish.Glass is perfect and bright. Also has original lens caps...Yes, this will be great on that DG rifle headed to the Dark Continent for Lion,Buff and Elephant! I have used a variety of rifle scopes and find some are a pain to use. AO is one. Side focus is great. On a low mirage day a 3/4 inch black dot at 500 yards was very clear for aiming with 20X.
On a Coues deer hunt my 1.4-4.5 scope came apart when getting a final zero so my only other option was an 8-32 x scope. My binoculars are a small fold-up set that are 8x. All that sounds fine until I tried to use either to spot at 8x. It was hell because unless on a rest always moved around driving my eyes nuts.
I used a 1960's Weaver K3 at 500 yards and found it to be way more useful then I thought it would be even hitting a 7 inch steel plate.
Someone suggested an 8x fixed on PG and DG. My own 8x experience on a hunt said that is too much power.
I really like that S&B with a 4x top especially for DG. In the bushes you might be glad you have the lower power range.
