SANParks to cull 2,600 animals, says 'disguised trophy hunting' not allowed

Ok..... I'm going to jump in here for just a second. First off @Graham Hunter I agree with you. BUT please bear in mind that JLF is using a translator to write his posts, and some can be lost in translation. What I think JLF is trying to say, is that he enjoys the hunt, not the kill. And that culling that appears as mass killing is something he is opposed to. (I'm thinking the idea of hundreds of animals being killed as quickly as possible by any means is what he doesn't consider true hunting)
Then I think he needs a better translator as that is not how it came across. Culling is not about the thrill of the kill but a necessary tool for proper wildlife management. As well this proposal could provide a lot of protein for a lot of people who need it. Also would provide employment and income for those who have non of either right now.

If you ever come to my country with pleasure, I invite you to share a week of hunting.
I have been to your beautiful Country 6X. To shoot/cull Doves & Pigeons. I did hunt Perdiz which was very enjoyable.

We probably need to give him a break. Who knows what we would write if we tried to use a translator to post in Spanish.

Culling and hunting are two different tools in effective conservation. I can understand that culling is not for everyone. I think an elephant cull where you have to remove entire family units would be very difficult and not for everyone. Not that it isn’t needed, it would just be tough to do and it would be very different than a hunt for a trophy bull.

I have no problem with culling not being for everyone. But it is necessary for proper management. But as I read culling was being applied as thrill killing. Back to the better translator. I can only respond to what I read. My Spanish is perfect. Cerveza por favor!

Correct @JLF does not speak English.
He is a hunter who enjoys the hunt. My understanding is that He enjoys the outdoors, the challenge, the stalk and the hunt in general
I guess many don’t take pleasure in Killing but that is only one aspect a hunting.
I believe JLF hunts for meat and just enjoys the hunt, yeas something is lost in translation and I have been writing to JLF in private messages trying to keep sentences simple so the software translates it easily.

I like guns and gear, rifles in particular. I am a shooter who likes to hunt and likes the outdoors. I shoot pests and the challenge is to do it well and do it cleanly.
I took a cull hunt in South Africa as I wanted to hunt there. They use the meat and I got to hunting. On the first night we discussed what I wanted as laid out in the package,
They said you are not a collector, no I don’t collect trophies. I don’t have the budget or the space and I’m not that interested but if people do then the taxidermy industry get supported. Each to their own.
I bought a custom knife but I am not a collector but I wanted one,

Happily for PETA fans, the animals will be culled. Not trophy hunted. And instead of making money, RSA can lose money....... they are very good at doing that. .....FWB

This will be done by specialised culling people, who have vehicles set up for it and are able to handle the carcases correctly. Not by someone coming along and deciding to put in a bid because he fancies a lot of shooting...
