Ryan Shalom and Untamed Africa - looking for first hand feedback

Gentlemen,

I am considering a leopard hunt in Tanzania involving Ryan Shalom- Untamed Tanzania and would appreciate any firsthand feedback from members who have hunted with him or worked with him directly in Tanzania.

Interested specifically in recent experience — leopard quota execution, licensing/logistics, communication, and overall professionalism.

He was recently involved in a massive scandal with my dear friend, Dr. Jorge Pinero (author of “Adventures Outside The Urban Jungle” and the “Rogue Of Luangwa” where he mentioned me in the foreword). He owes the Doctor a great deal of money after taking him on a Safari where things didn’t go as promised. I can be more specific if you want me to. But it’s a rather long story.

He’s apparently been doing this for a while to more than a few clients over the years.

I have hunted with Ryan Shallom in the Southern Selous and can speak from direct experience: he is a highly competent, safety-conscious professional hunter with genuine knowledge of the country and its game. We have taken prime buffalo together under conditions that demanded real skill and composure — and Ryan delivered on both counts every time.

He is also an excellent host and entertainer in camp, which matters on a long safari.

I would urge anyone reading anonymous negative posts to weigh them against the source. Ryan is not the archetypal white PH that has long dominated this industry, and has built his reputation from the ground up on merit alone. In a business where competition is fierce and reputational attacks cost nothing to make, that context is worth keeping in mind.

I have no hesitation in recommending him to serious hunters.

And, how on Earth did you find this guy?? *Someone wrote somethign positive about him (just as The Phantom above) about 16 y/ago. Good to Go! LOL Maybe change it to Seacrest and run with that for awhile?! lol Just No. SMH

He’s active on Instagram, Facebook, and uploads on YouTube, currently holds a block in the selous. “Untamed Africa” as op stated. I saw him at the show in Dallas and is usually at SCI. He is honestly quite well known in east Africa.

He has been a PH in TZ a long time and worked for many longstanding safari companies.

Any issues should be from first hand knowledge and some might have that. Now someone has said he might be having some client issues as of late - we still need some proof and further discussion in a professional manner.

Slow down, you are rambling a lot about stuff you might not really know.

I’m not defending anyone. Just saying there is a right way to go about vetting someone and investigating claims and issues.

You erronously claimed that the posts here are random and anonymous which its not.

Secondly you did not answer anything based on first hsnd experience just said hes a swell guy. You did not say what your experience was. Just we hunted heres my chat gpt generated post of platitudes.

And 3rd a straw man argument/appeal to authority is a logical fallacy. My experience with or not with said individual is irrelevant to the conversation because its not his work im focused on. But your factual errors and kinda sketchy post.

And the fact your intentionally being shifty in the conversation and shift the track and focus shows a level of dishonesty i cant quite figure out.

Yeah, I guess HH's post raised my ire a bit and reminded me of all the times the Shalom's either gypped (or even tried to countersue) corporations (after breach for non-payment) I used to work for (using greasy lawyers to delay big payments due.) As a result, many of us refuse to do personal transactions with 'em (paid by a neutral trustee/escrow account, 100% payment up-front for each milestone task, or through their insurance companies.) I could of course go on and on about this with Facts, but that'd be labeled "Stereotyping." lol All that said, I do have the most unique Orthodox client that pulled me aside when we first met and said "I will show You that not everyone is alike!" (Even he was abundantly aware of how his culture is generally viewed from a business standpoint.) And, he pays his bills promptly and myself and another thanked him for being one of the best customers to deal with, EVER. A true Outlier of Statistics, but so glad he/his family are!

Re: The Shalom du jour per this post, I've never heard of him and know next to nothing about him (aside from the tales o' gypping posted above plus vast business experience with similar)..but wouldn't a reputable business operator have a Website? Is this guy one of the natives that happens to fall into the Shalom clan, or is he an "import?" Just curious, as that part of the world has an interesting mix of ethnicities....Humping rabbits on a S/S? Is it a converted .410 or paid for by income with decidely little expenses?? Peace (Shalom) Out. More will come out in the laundry for certain, one way or another, down the pike per the "Bad News Travels Fast" adage.
