AH legend
(I am speaking of my place, and hunting ways - not on Romanian outfitters on this forum)
In Croatia, (where I live), nobody ever asked me to test or zero the rifle before the hunt.
I think this particular failure in procedure can come from variety of facts, influences, habits, local conditions and culture.
Some of them are:
Many of hunting areas do not have improvised shooting range. (one thing)
One reason for this shortcoming is incompetency of people leading the local club, not being aware this can easily be established. Or club management simply do not care.
Secondly:
Many of the local hunters do not know how to zero the rifle. (gunsmith do this for them) So they dont need improvised shooting range.
So, there is no tradition in this for me very important part of hunting preparation.
If the guide, or outfitter does not have long experience in accommodating foreign hunters, this problem for visiting foreign hutner can easily be experienced.
This is also typical for local clubs who sell one or two big game animals per year, to help their annual budgeting. They are not used to accommodate frequent foreign clients, and do the hunt their own way, and treat the client in same manner
So, what I do, I keep my rifles tested and zeroed, all the times. Always double checked if there is a doubt, as I frequently go to the range in my private arrangment. But not many from hunting community do it this way.
