Now's the time to buy one, pre-owned ANIB prices are dipping below current retail these days if you look hard enough.

Good luck fixing older watches cam be costly. But itl be worth it in the long run.Hopefully this story makes you feel better. I just sent my Grandfather’s 1926 Hamilton 21 Jewel pocket watch in for maintenance. Original Hamilton parts are pricey. But man.
I was thinking a $500-$750 cleaning and checkup.
So the call was a shock. This is worn out. That needs replacing. This should be replaced.
$2700 for what I thought was a maintenance trip. Almost half the value of the watch.
So I asked them to wrap it up and send it home. Fortunately it’s only $10 return shipping.
I will try another recognized Hamilton repair company and see if they say the same.
). I wear a Superocean as my everyday watch and am very happy with it. I like the dive watch style. Have a Seiko that I got before the Breitling that looks similar and is their PADI watch. It's a nice watch too and at a fraction of the price. An Omega Seamaster would be another on my list. About the only jewelery I really like are watches. My two are stainless....don't really want a gold one. I was a bit worried about wearing my Breitling in Cozumel, but there were guys on the tours with gold Rolex's so I figured I was about number 20 on the chain of watches to be robbed
@leslie hetrick - AGREE, my Walmart TIMEX will keep more accurate time then any Rolex ever made and for a cost of $15 to $35 (depending on sale /clearance rack) so what if it only lasts 2 years before I throw it in the trash? Sure, Rolex is a finely made hand crafted time piece that reflects craftsmanship rarely seen these days and owning one is appreciated for more then just “telling time”. Some appreciate the craftsmanship others crave the “attentions & status” they think Rolex gives them (those people are pathetic). I like BOTH types and while I buy a new TIMEX every 2-3 years, I also own an Omega that I appreciate (although it requires a battery). I’ve never owned a Rolex but appreciate them too for the traditional craftsmanship, However, I saw so many ‘pretentious’ people at work wearing them — I could never bring myself to buy one….even though they are a very fine time piece.as i don,t scuba dive or jump from airplanes and my combat days are 60 odd years behind me, i go to the forbidden place (wall mart) and pay 12.00 for a electric watch. it keeps perfict time with my computer and its just about two years old now and when it dies i will toss it into the trash bin and buy another, oh, i don,t play golf either.
Plus, every cell phone has a clock, timer, alarm, etal... who needs a watch anymore?Rolex (and all other brands as well) are experiencing a severe dip in price, making many watches affordable. It's a buyers market and he who hesitates is lost. If you see the one you have been after...
Everything except spell check apparently.Plus, every cell phone has a clock, timer, alarm, etal... who needs a watch anymore?
if your out of power, you need more than a watch. a small solar panel will keep it running. around here most of the pa. dutch have solar panels that keep their cell phones and small electric gadgets running.Except when you're out of power

Ya..... I need this.....lolEverything except spell check apparently.
I think you could flip the conversation to 10k plus guns as well. Alot of folks here have very $$$ firearms. And use them. But alot of folks could make similar arguments.@leslie hetrick - AGREE, my Walmart TIMEX will keep more accurate time then any Rolex ever made and for a cost of $15 to $35 (depending on sale /clearance rack) so what if it only lasts 2 years before I throw it in the trash?
