As promised the Rockin G Ranch is hosting an AH get together Big Bore shoot. Details are as follows: We will host a 3 day/ 4 night event which will include all meals, lodging, shooting events, and some hunting. Here's the skinny though. Many have mentioned wanting to take trophy animals and/or meat animals during the event. The truth of it is I do not have the staff to be able to pull of 9 or 10 people all hunting various animals plus pigs, and bird hunts on top of hosting the shoot. I'm sorry ya'll it's just beyond what I can provide at one time with large groups. That being said we will be including both upland bird hunting and unlimited feral pigs during the events. We will be doing a big bore shoot with an interactive shooting course. Specific details on the course will be posted when we get closer to time. I am going to get with @skydiver386 and @Mark Biggerstaff as I believe will set up a final competition for the last day where the winner will get a commemorative prize provided by the Rockin G Ranch. We will hold the shoots in the mornings; have some free time to explore, do game drives, play cornhole, etc.... during mid-day, and you will have your choice of either an upland bird hunt or feral pig hunting each afternoon. You can mix and match, i.e. shoot birds one evening, pigs the next, etc.... Also, if there is interest, we do have the option of shooting sporting clays at our modified 5 stand course mid-day as well. We do charge by the clay but it's very inexpensive. I can provide shotgun ammo if needed for folks for both sporting clays and upland hunting, with advanced notice of gauge and amount you wish to purchase. please let me know this no later than December. I buy ammo from a distributer and just charge slightly below MSRP so I can cover the shipping costs.
To make this manageable we will be doing the get together in groups of 10 people at a time. So, if we have a get together set with a group of 10 for certain dates anyone above and beyond that will go into the next group of which we will set dates for. What I'm saying is I want to have this and be able to take everyone that wants to come but I can only do it 10 at a time. We can fudge that a little to make it work say we have a group of 10 and one that would be 8 or 11 or something, I can work with that. I just can't comfortably take 15-20 at a whack. I've hosted larger events before and from experience I can tell you packing everyone in like cattle doesn't make for a great time. I know that there will be folks that want to attend with certain people and that is fine we will sort that out when we set the dates for the event. On that note, if you want to do this please reply "I'm in" in this thread and I will start a pm group so we can get dates and groups set.
The cost will be $2500 all in. Not included is a Texas hunting license, tips to staff, pre/post trip expenses, any ammo for the bird shoot or sporting clays, normal stuff etc... On a personal note: I will have my double rifle 9.3x75r, 9.3x62, 375, 416, a 45-70 or three, and possibly a 500 Jeffery (if the build is finished by then) that I'm more than happy to let people shoot (it goes without saying but please be careful with them, AH'rs are the best group of folks we host so I know there is no issues with that) until I run out of ammo. I'll do my best with what time I have to load as much for them as possible.
Final note: If someone does want to hunt some trophy animals/meat animals while there with us. Let me know and if you can come in early a day or two and or stay a day or two after we can definitely work something out and you can take animals for just trophy fees (I won't charge you for additional day fees up to two days early or late if you will hunt the animal) if you will put a deposit down ($500 for meat animals excluding bison, trophy animals/any bison will depend on what it is) to secure a trophy or management animal with your deposit for the event. I have to do this as I work with a limited quota of various animals that we hunt annually and I can't be in a position where I allot 3 of my stud shooters and then for whatever reason someone can not hunt said animal and I am left trying to fill my quotas last minute after the event. I'm sure everyone understands.
Ok I'm sure I missed something but just to review, we'll do this in groups of 10 at a time. Singles can be added to one group or another and as long as we have 2 or more folks we'll run a second, 3rd, and so event. As of right now I can run as many groups as people want from the 1rst of Feb through the 31rst of March. January is a no go as I have prebooked hunts and we and @Tally-Ho HUNTING SAFARIS will be running our annual safari class between or shortly after DSC/SCI conventions, dates to be determined. We're super excited and can't wait to have everyone, Cheers Ya'll!
