RMR/red dot sights Double Rifles

I have Trijicon red dots on all my doubles. I have them because I am more accurate with them and I have faster target acquisition. I have 1 MOA dots on all of them. For dangerous game the farthest shot I have taken is 52 yards at a buffalo. Most other shots were at 35 yards or less. For plains game the farthest shot was 125 yards on a blue wildebeest.

My old eyes simply work as well with a red dot as they used to with open sights.

I have them on my semi-auto pistols and double rifle.

Note: One should always shoot with both eyes open all of the time assuming your dominant eye is the eye you sight/shoot with. If you concentrate the dominant eye will always take over the sight picture and the non-dominate eye will just help to prevent eye strain, provide better depth perception and a whole host of other things.

As far as distance, I cant imagine a first shot on game being further that 75 yards.

Has anyone found a Noblex in a 1 MOA version?

What other brand of red dot sights are recommended for use on a DGR?

I'm a new to the double rifle gang, and originally hoped to stick with open iron sights, especially at my extreme youthful age comparatively...only 51 (well for one more week). Problem being I am not as accurate as I want to be with open, iron sights anymore. Still good enough to make ethical shots on animals at all appropriate distances, but on paper and working up loads, just not happy with it. And was finding it inconsistent.

While I was trying to work up the most accurate loads for my 470, I kept scratching my head as to why it would group well, very well even, one day then lousy another. Started wondering if there was an issue with my Heym and why I got some vertical now and then. Slapped a 1 MOA RMR on, fixed most of the issues I was trying to load around. My reloading simply would not fix my aging and tired eyes. That was the inconsistency. Some days my eyes just see better. Earlier in the day, better light, even earlier in a shooting session. With the 1 MOA RMR, everything tightened up and dramatically so.
Youngster (LOL!!!!! I am 66 I envy your 51) you are a wise man!

I am bless with still being able to see and shoot my irons (67 years young). But I was planning on a night hunt for hyena so need something I could see at night. Put a 1 moa on my 500/416 and all my groups tightened up and also would have worked on hyena if they had cooperated and shown up at the bait. Based on the positive feedback on targets I put a 2 moa on my 9.3x74 and the 375H&H. With my 500/416 my longest shot was 92 meters. With the 9.3 it is 110 meters on a wildebeest with a followup at 130. Either of these 3 double I would be comfortable with a 130meter first shot on game.

I personally own the Trijicon RMR for my rifles but just returned from South Africa two days ago. Our PH swore by the Burris red dot. Had them on all of his rifles. I do not know the model names but I am definitely going to check them out!

Hi PaulB,
I have a Ballard Arms Model 1885 chambered for .333 Jeffery Flanged. Do you have any idea where I can get ammo for this?

I am new to this forum so I am sorry if I am doing something wrong!
Thank You!
