Rifles for around $1500 USD

I found a Sauer Model 202 Deluxe with a Swarovski scope in 300 win mag for $3000 USD any one know if that is good value? I know you can change the barrels in them, any chance any knows how to get different barrels now that it is dis continued?

My Win m70 safari in 416rm was under $1500 and it is one of the best rifles ive ever owned.

Hello all,

I just wanted to get some opinions on some rifles around the $1500 range as I'm sure many of you have experience with these fine rifles. Those rifles being

-Pre-64 Model 70
-Current Model 70 Super Grade
-Sako 90/used 85
-Ruger M77
-anything else

I'm curious what you guys think of these rifles or if their are other options i need to look into, like if their is another rifle that is more expensive but is a great value. my only requirements are they need to be steel and wood. If anyone has an suggestion I will hear anything out.

I’ve had experience with all but the current Model 70, all are serviceable and have found them all accurate and reliable. Just my 2cents!

I haven’t owned all the ones on your list as I’m one of those CRF only weirdos. But, I do prefer the current M70 over the Ruger Hawkeye, in all configurations. I feel like the Winchester has better fit and finish and the safety is better. That is not to say the Rugers are bad rifles. I really like how they actually listen to the customers and offer unique models like African variants. Winchester couldn’t care less about those of us who like blued steel and nice wood, it seems.
