Greetings to all the helpful members. I found this forum because I was lucky enough to draw a New Mexico Orxy tag. Not surprisingly, some of the best info I've found came from the members on this site.
I grew up hunting and fishing in the SW USA into my late 30's, but somehow life got in the way and opportunities for me were few and far between thereafter. I've lived and traveled abroad a great deal as a geologist, including school work in New Zealand and Mexico. Later I lived for 2 years in Venezuela and over 10 years in Thailand. I was also lucky enough to make several trips to Africa including field work in the southern Karoo and trips to Congo (RDC), Gabon and Nigeria. Madagascar is on my bucket list.
A few years ago I discovered my local mountains had elk and decided to learn how to shoot a bow. I got lucky in 2023 (cow) and again last year (6x6 bull) and I really enjoy the challenge. I plan to keep hunting until I can't.
