The photos show my original Mauser Oberndorf, manufactured in 1933–34. It features a double square bridge receiver and lacks a thumb cut-out. It is chambered in 7x57 Mauser. I use this rifle regularly for hunting. It is my "favorite firearm." I use exclusively hand-loaded ammunition. Its accuracy is excellent with 170-grain Norma Oryx bullets and 162-grain Hornady SST bullets. The best part is, that both loads group together at 100 meters.

Very beautiful rifle.

Fantastic looking rifle!

I still prefer them original, but there is no mistaking that is a beautiful rifle, I love it. Neat to see the shroud modified like the originals to clear the receiver lug. Whose shroud is that by the way, I don’t recall seeing one quite like that?

hallo, To give you a good, qualified answer, I need to understand what you mean by "shroud." Sorry—English is not my native language, so I need your explanation.

What all did you have done to it?

The weapon has received a new stock that corresponds exactly to the original. I also asked my gunsmith to install a new barrel. In terms of its profile, twist rate, and caliber, the barrel corresponds exactly to the original. Admittedly, the mounted Leupold scope is, of course, modern rather than historical. All other parts were restored and reused. The entire weapon has been completely re-blued.

Beautiful, even has the correct number of triggers.
Mike
Yes, these are the original triggers. Mauser supplied two types of triggers: a direct trigger (single-stage) and a trigger with a set trigger—just like the one on my rifle.

That stock is absolutely gorgeous. I also applaud your choice of bullets. I have some new old stock 175 grain roundnose RWS that shoot very well also.

Yes, I have 3 Mauser sporters, all 8x57i (.318 bore), and 2 Mannlicher Schoenauers, all have double set triggers.

Nice Report! Im about to pull the trigger on booking the LDE with Patrick. I have been talking about it with him for about 3 yrs now. Romain hit me up the other day with an offer I can't refuse for 2027.

Andrew, I commented that your on 375 H&H for sale was the fair price.

Like I commented, my classic stainless has the original 24” barrel.

Did you buy yours with the barrel already cut down to 21” or did you do it (or a gunsmith)?

You might have edited your post on the PH in the Bubye. I know the PH and is a wonderful person and a fmaily man and runs a succesful business in Zim and just doesn't want the attention that the internet offers, the ugly kind.
