I picked this gun up used and it’s a 300 ultra mag conversion. I sent it up to Williams Gun Sights and had NECG iron sights and barrel band put on. I’m selling the gun and 3.5 boxes of ammo.

Weight, LOP and what ammo are you including?

Would 404 RML NE cause you a great deal of headaches at Tambo with 404 Jeff brass?

Good question. I've never traveled with it. It has been a safe queen.

The short answer is it may. :-). Happened to a friend of mine, but it was years ago. I have a lot of brass head stamped rimless nitro express. When I had a 404 built for my son this last year, l had it engraved for both.

11 trips over to Africa and hunted 4 countries. Never had anyone look at head stamps. Only half or so times they even look at ammo and when they do they only count. And yes I’ve taken brass with the wrong head stamp.

It didn't happen to me last trip. I think if you pay for a rifle import service their care goes to about nothing. That's at least what it seemed like in my experience.

You might be right! I do the VIP meet and greet wherever possible.

South Africa is horrible on how it handles gun and ammo even on transit. I avoid it if at all possible.
Uganda, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia are all far easier. Uganda does count your ammo coming and going. Agree never had them look at head stamps.

I've had no problems going through JNB, last summer they didnt even open the rifle case to verify serial numbers. (Yes used a VIP service) Once they could not find rifles but not the fault of SAPS, this was pre Airtags.

Been through Zim I think 7 maybe 8 times now. Never an issue until this last July, it was a nightmare. I had 9 people around me to get permits and stamped and done. Took almost 2 hours. I'm hoping it was just a one off deal as I'm headed back in May with the same rifle.
