Considering mounting a low power variable scope on my Merkel 140E SxS 9.3x74R.
I like the look of the Talley set-up on Searcy double rifles but I don't know if that is possible on the Merkel.
I would like quick detachable mounts if possible .

Any advice is greatly appreciated .

I put a scope on my Merkel 140 with Talley mounts, you need someone who can machine the rib to take the bases.

JJ Perdeou at Chaplin firearms in Enid OK. Forgive my miss spellings.

Send the rifle to Merkel or ask Merkel for recommendations regarding gunsmith, that‘s the best advise I can give you.

As AZ Dave notes, JJ Peodeau does this work all the time and can offer you several options. Milling the rib doesn't always work. Some solder jobs can take the added weight and recoil forces - some can't. He can professionally advise you. And unlike a lot of these guys, he won't bite your head off if you call him. I would be interested in it if you pass. Please send me the info on the gun shop if you do not buy it. I have the needed ammo and brass.
