Hey guys,

Trying to plan out for 2 how much would flat skins and skulls of 3 medium antelopes and 4 smaller antelopes. Trying to see what the prices look like for the freight. In turn, can you bring it back with you via your flight like domestic flights? I assume customs wouldn’t allow that from Namibia to America.

You are probably into it $3500-2500, but it could be $2200 or it could be $5500 if things don't improve on fuel prices.

Skip the shipping and go again next year, you have half of it paid for.

Your outfitter and whomever does the dip and pack won’t be able to get them all done in time to bring back yourself as part of your luggage. If they could it is technically possible to bring items back but a mountain of paperwork is required, you have to plan ahead as only certain airports have onsite USFW capabilities and customs import that can handle this, so long story short is you are going to be shipping all the trophies home to the US a few months following your hunt. You are probably going to need to budget at least $3500 to $4k for the import and shipping

I went in July of 24 to RSA.
capes: cape buff, eland, zebra, gemsbok
backskins for all as well
skulls for all but zebra.

dip/pack with swift: $950
Badger Cargo: $1,900 (sent turkish air to chicago)
D&L brokerage and shipping to the wildlife gallery: $1,665

so I am 4500 in before any tanning, taxidermy, etc... I'm having the zebra pedestal done, the rest of the capes/backskins will be tanned for later, and the euro's cleaned up for display. i think my WG bill will be another 5k with crating/shipping.

so dang near 10k to have a zebra mount and some skulls. I LOVE taxidermy. however, i think i will either only ship skulls for euros if i ever go back, and try to buy some capes once i get back home if i have something that i just "need" a mount done. I would love to have my buff and eland done as pedestals, but that's another 6k or so in taxidermy that i just can't spend right now. I think they'll stay euros for a long time, i'd rather hunt with my dad while he is still able and now that my boy is hunting, i'd rather have the money to take him places.

@cooperjd gives a good breakdown here. I'd like to mention that for around $5000 you could just as well have 10 skins/skulls. The price does not go up exponentially with more animals. This is why I advise those who can to plan a bigger safari in the first place! Then just do nice pics of the trophies in future hunts.

My wife, son and myself hunted with Henry Griffiths Safaris in Mar 25. My crate just arrived to Kanati last week. We were supposed to get 3 animals but ended up with 11. I'm not complaining as it was my wife's first hunt ever after being married for 32yrs. First time shooting a rifle also. It's not that I tried but the lure of Africa did something to her. She ended with getting 7 and can't wait to go back. Here's my cost break down to get my crate to Kanati.

Highveld dip/pack skulls, capes, skins: $1915
Oxi Logistics(Turkish Air to JFK) $1938.86
Genus Logistics w/shipping to Kanati $1977
Total $5830.86

Now we have to tan and mount $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Can't wait for this bill. I guess you only live once and it's the memories we just gave to our son.

I’m new to all of this but trying to soak in what I can.
From what I have for prices on euro mounts , including packaging / crating, for kudu, wildebeest, oryx, impala I’m just under $1000.00
Importers fees are around $1100.00
Shipping I have no reference yet as I have yet to get down to hunt ( going in may ) but you make a good point if the cost may not go up as much with another skull or 2… or 3

I advise a good import agent such as Coppersmith or Trophy Shippers. They will also provide good advice during the process.

Thank you, I am working with coppersmith and have my account made. I do prefer to pay alittle more for the services of someone who’s experienced. I would really like to take home some euros for sure.

I was pleasantly surprised at the price of shipping my crate from Namibia to Coppersmith in Seattle. It held a buffalo skull-w-horns of course, a euro wildebeest skull and horns, and three flat skins, buffalo, zebra and wildebeest. Shipping was $1,300.00, almost the exact same price as Coppersmith's fees.

Wow that's great, what year was this?

That’s actually very reasonable

I'm looking at 2 kudu euros, one impala euro, and a nyala shoulder mount and dreading the bill collector...
