What is the general opinion on the value of this rifle? Montana .22-250 stainless with a Zeiss 6.5-20x scope on it. Left Hand. Appears to be in excellent condition but not a fan of the stock or brake.

Unless one has bore pics of the throat and recent targets at more than 100 yards/meters, or it's a new quality barrel chambered by a good smith, it's worth what the stock and action would bring. On top of that, with Montana out of business, what's your recourse if there's a problem? ,
My 2¢, If I was a lefty, I'd still be looking.
Edit: Not sure about this scope but I've seen some Zeiss have non standard bottle cap turrets.

@Albert GRANT - I’m a lefty and fan of the .22-250 but I wouldn’t be interested in this one: hate the muzzle break, looks worse then a suppressor and not sure why one would need one on a .22-250. I also am leary of any used .22-250 barrel, would rather buy New. I don’t mind a laminated stock but don’t like the “thumbhole” even though many guys do.

I have LH MRC in 404Jeff. I like them a lot.

Might be worth it just to buy the action, then re-barrel and restock. LH rifles don't exactly fall out of the trees.

All that aside, for something like a 22-250, do you really need a LH bolt? It's a "nice-to-have" but not necessary for target/varmint shooting. Not that I do any serious bench shooting, but if I did, I'd actually prefer a RH rifle - the fore end is either sitting on a bipod or some sort of rest, and I wouldn't have to take my trigger hand off the pistol grip to cycle the action.

Just food for thought.

Thanks for the input guys. It’s available locally and I don’t have much use for a .22-250 but like the Montana actions. That being said, since it is a .22-250, it is a short action which limits its usefulness for what I might do. I was mostly interested in the scope, lol. It is on sale (guessing they have had it for a while) so it seemed like it might be worth getting just to take the scope off and resell. I was hoping it might just be because it’s my area without many lefties and lots of people who only buy cheap rifles that is was a hard sell for them, but it seems it is likely to be anywhere, so I’m probably going to pass on it!

it would be a good value at $700. Take $300 off for the scope and I'll send you a check for the difference.

Used varmint rifles are a hard sell. A friend took a Savage .204 to put on consignment in a high traffic gun shop. They wouldn't take it.

If you want to open the bolt face, I have a blued 270 WSM barrel from a Montana, that is collecting dust. $65 puts it on your (or your 'smith's ) door step.

For a Left-Hand? I would value it at $1,200 to $1,450, depending on how bad the stock is and how well the brake was installed.

Spot on the asking price! Not something I'm going to go after so here is the link if anyone is interested.

Good morning,
Did you hunt w Leeuwkop at their ranch or in Zimbabwe? The ranch looks awesome, but I'll be in Zimbabwe for buffalo and whatever else we dig up.
What did you hunt for?
Vaccines?
What rifle did you use?
I feel like I need a good cotton safari shirt and an ammo belt to make the hunt feel right!
How often did you shoot prior to going?
Did you use sticks for shooting practice?
