Some people really have it in for Christians! As I said, I am agnostic, but I sure don't have this bitter hatred for religion as some on the left do! Sheesh!! Just wrong on soooooo many levels!

If only. Don't even know if he plans to run, but if he is our nominee, I will vote for him, because he will be light years better than any Demtard!

We agree on a lot more than we disagree on... Mainly getting a reasonable republican back into the White House.

I suppose there might be some short term financial gain to be had occasionally from a Democrat policy, but I don't see it being worth the long term payback... And it is certainly not worth what we give up in other areas.

And Obama just is so wrong on so many fronts, we need to get back to some reasonable-ness while we still have a democracy left and some ability to function as a Capitalist economy.... It has certainly been proven the World over that anything else eventually fails.

Ronald Reagan, where are you?? Best president in my lifetime. No one is perfect, he made mistakes, but I cant think of a time when I was more proud to be an American. If anybody wants to beat up on him go ahead, I wont stand in your way. Facts are facts.

Your damn right I'm going to beat up on him and facts are facts! The facts are that he caused a huge national debt, started the costly war on drugs, and gave amnesty to illegals. These all point to a terrible president.

That said, I think that Reagan was on of the best presidents of this generation, but not because of his policies. What made him so good was his attitude. No matter what happened in America, Reagan stayed confident and in control. By always acting this way, he inspired other Americans to take pride in the country and help America stay great.

When things in the middle east started going poorly, bush seemed to give up. He didn't have the demeanor of a man who runs the greatest and most powerful nation on the planet. When things started going bad for Obama, he adopted a defeatist attitude of just surrendering and letting things get out of control. With Reagan, he never gave up and you always knew that Reagan saw America as the greatest nation in the world. You didn't see this outlook in Bush, and you certainly don't see it in Obama.

Now from a corporate standpoint, I have witnessed companies stay afloat and even remain profitable because of the sheer charisma of the head of the company. For any company to be successful, employees need a figurehead that inspires them to be the best. If a boat is sinking, the captain always stays calm and at the wheel the whole way down to show others how to act. Reagan was that figurehead, and I don't see this personality in any other presidential candidate in either side.

He also won the Cold War which led to the implosion of the Soviet Union. He got f**ked over by the demturds in Congress on amnesty, they had a deal and they reneged on it. Terrible president? I think not. He was as you say a leader, and we have not since his like since. Compare his national debt to Obamas and compare what we got for it. With Obama we only got more debt. No comparison!

While we're discussing presidents, policy, pride in the USA, etc the following quote seems appropriate.

    War is an ugly thing, but is not the ugliest of things;
    the decayed and degraded state
    of moral and patriotic feeling
which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse.
A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight,
nothing he cares about more than his own personal safety,
is a miserable creature who has no chance of being free,
unless made and kept so by better men than himself.

    - John Stuart Mill

Obama and far left dems seems to personify this degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling.
End the war on terror - like saying it will make it so
ALL troops out of Iraq - look what that got us (and them)
Troops out of Afghanistan - what do we think that will get us?
Red line in Syria - Oops, just kidding, didn't really mean it
Pivot to Asia - Just ignore the middle east and africa, they'll go away
Trillions of dollars of stimulus spending - what has that got us?
Defense spending cuts - what will this get us?
What do our allies think of us today? We're weak
What do our enemies think of us today? We're weak

God help us if we get 4 more years of liberal policies from the oval office.

Sorry, couldn't restrain myself from jumping. Didn't mean to intrude too deeply on the conversation :sneaky:

Unpopular as it is, there is a part of me that says pull all troops out of the middle east and let it go to hell. Then, put in the Keystone pipeline and tape into our oil deposits.

IdaRam, Keep it coming, I like it!

I think part of many of us agrees with that thinking Saul, problem is, that is basically why we got hit on 9-11. Clinton and company chose to ignore UBL for the most part and here we are. Bush tried, got the job started, but there is no will to finish the job anymore. If you win a battle in a country, you have to stay there to keep the peace. Obama left Iraq and now its in total turmoil. Never mind about the WMD not being found, that's a red herring argument. Every major player in the game said Sadam Hussein had WMD, including Kerry, Clinton and all the rest of the rogues gallery of demtards, along with many foreign countries, it wasn't just Bush. Remember the dems asked for a second vote so they could get on board with Bush and authorize action against Sadam. People forget another important fact. Sadam used WMD on the Kurds in the north, that's a fact, indisputable, so he did have WMD, so what happened to them? Who has them now?

I'm right there with ya Saul. Not a day goes by that you and I and most everybody else is tired of and disgusted by what we see in the middle east.
If it weren't for the consequences to the US and our allies I'm sure we would have all agreed to let them wallow in their own sh!t long ago. Oil is a distant secondary consideration at this point in my opinion. Terrorism, training camps, propogation of radical islamic fundamentalism and nuclear armament are the primary considerations. If the US is not engaged in an agressive pro-active way it's just a matter of time before the chickens come home to roost. You know the old saying, the best defense is a strong offense.
This so called war on terror isn't going away. There is no end and there is no win. There simply CANNOT be a loss. Pretty tough game we play.
I heard a quote a while back that went something like this: when will there be peace in the Middle East? When they're all dead.
Don't mis-interpret that, I'm not advocating wiping out the middle east! But really, what are our expectations? Peace in the Middle East? Probably not gonna happen. After all they have been perpetually at war for thousands of years. Just keeping it from spilling over onto our shores is becoming tougher every day.

Regarding the energy situation; The USA is already a net exporter of energy, when you count coal. Obama has been a real pompous ass at best and just plain stupid about his remarks about coal. Saying that "they can build new coal powered plants, I will just make it so expensive they won't want to".... It is the same with many other things, manufacturing and livestock farming is being hit very hard with excessive regulation. These industries are being mired in red tape to the point they move off shore.

Back to the energy, so we don't want to build coal plants because of global warming.... so instead we export it to China where they burn it! And burn it through plants that don't have the clean technology we have here... Where is this making any net improvement to global warming??? In fact it adds to it as it takes fuel to transport it across the ocean.

Add in the refusal to permit the pipeline and all the work put in to try and stop the drilling in ND an it really brings into question what Obama's goals really are.... His action sure say his goals are to weaken this country as much as possible. He is Putin's dream come true. No way that another country could do to us what is being done internally by our administration.

I am not saying there should be no regulation, but it has gotten to unreasonable levels and so far out of hand. And it is very difficult to cut this back once the bureaucrats are put in place... It will take someone like Reagan to cut those positions and pull us back to center.

Obama loves to tax and spend... If he really wanted to do something that has to be on a governmental scale and would reduce emissions, utilize a largely wasted resource and stimulate the economy with high tech and high paying jobs... H would come up with a project to convert the semi trucks that really are the life line of America, to burn natural gas... That would be a hugely expensive project requiring massive investment in infrastructure at the truck stops. Not to mention development and conversion of engines, additional pipeline capacity, training mechanics and technicians, etc. We are flaring off and wasting huge amounts of natural gas....

I completely agree with you. Don't get me wrong, I think we should do everything we can to save the environment (we can't hunt without it) but these recent regulations have done nothing but hurt.

If we want to get serious a about environmental protection, we need to crack down on countries that destroy the environment, not our own companies back home. The hugest problem facin the planet is china right now because of their complete disregard for pollution safety. It's going to give everyone in china lung cancer in the next 30 years anyway.

You guys say that we cannot abandon the middle east because of fears of more terrorist attacks, but I think it is the complete opposite. I was watching BBC News in the morning (like always) and they had a story about ISIS (the terrorists that are taking over Iraq). They said that ISIS is almost completely funded off of oil money and has an estimated net worth of $1.3 billion. Now if we completely stop buying oil from the middle east and use our own oil, then the terrorist lose funding and can't do anything. Plus, they will probably then turn on each other for control of areas. Let them kill each other. I don't care. Why fight our enemies when we can bankrupt them.

The demand for middle eastern oil isn't going away any time soon. Even if the US became completely independent from middle eastern oil there are alot of other consumers out there. China especially, but many other asian nations not to mention europe. And it's not like ISIS is in the oil business (yet). They receive funding from rich benefactors who share their radical agenda.
And then there is poaching... How much of that poached ivory and Rhino horn eventually turns into funding for terrorists? Millions upon millions of dollars.
What about kidnapping? Kidnapping for ransom is also a lucrative business. Just ask the drug cartels. If terrorists fall short on funding derived from oil revenues, rest assured they will find alternate means of filling their coffers. Like maybe from opium from Afghanistan. The US continually interdicts funding to terror groups, but it is like trying to stomp out a fire in barn full of straw. The fire pops up in 10 other spots for everyone you stomp out.
By the way ActionBob, I agree completely with your comments above. Mr and Mrs Obama have told us what their agenda is. They have also said we won't recognize the country when they are done.

    Here's something to ponder

    545 vs. 300,000,000 People
    -By Charlie Reese

Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them. Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits?

Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes? You and I don't propose a federal budget. The President does. You and I don't have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does.

You and I don't write the tax code, Congress does. You and I don't set fiscal policy, Congress does. You and I don't control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does. One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one President, and nine Supreme Court justices equates to 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country.

I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank.

I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a President to do one cotton-picking thing. I don't care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator's responsibility to determine how he votes.

Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party. What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits. The President can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it.

The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House? John Boehner. He is the leader of the majority party. He and fellow House members, not the President, can approve any budget they want. If the President vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to.

It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million cannot replace 545 people who stand convicted -- by present facts -- of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can't think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist.

If the tax code is unfair, it's because they want it unfair.

    • If the budget is in the red, it's because they want it in the red.
    • If the Army & Marines are in Iraq and Afghanistan it's because they want them in Iraq and Afghanistan ...
    • If they do not receive social security but are on an elite retirement plan not available to the people, it's because they want it that way.
    • There are no insoluble government problems.
Do not let these 545 people shift the blame to bureaucrats, whom they hire and whose jobs they can abolish; to lobbyists, whose gifts and advice they can reject; to regulators, to whom they give the power to regulate and from whom they can take this power.
Above all, do not let them con you into the belief that there exists disembodied mystical forces like "the economy," "inflation," or "politics" that prevent them from doing what they take an oath to do. Those 545 people, and they alone, are responsible. They, and they alone, have the power.

They, and they alone, should be held accountable by the people who are their bosses. Provided the voters have the gumption to manage their own employees... We should vote all of them out of office and clean up their mess!

Charlie Reese is a former columnist of the Orlando Sentinel Newspaper. What you do with this article now that you have read it... is up to you.
This might be funny if it weren't so true.
Be sure to read all the way to the end: Tax his land,
    Tax his bed,
    Tax the table,
At which he's fed. Tax his tractor,
    Tax his mule,
    Teach him taxes
Are the rule. Tax his work,

    Tax his drink,
    Tax him if he
Tries to think. Tax his cigars,
    Tax his beers,
    If he cries
Tax his tears. Tax his car,
    Tax his gas,
    Find other ways
To tax his ass. Tax all he has
    Then let him know
    That you won't be done
    Till he has no dough. When he screams and hollers;
    Then tax him some more,
    Tax him till
He's good and sore. Then tax his coffin,
    Tax his grave,
    Tax the sod in
Which he's laid... Put these words
    Upon his tomb,
    'Taxes drove me
to my doom...' When he's gone,
    Do not relax,
    Its time to apply

Just read where Obama is planning to declare amnesty to some 5 million illegals by summers end. Some will no doubt think that's a good thing. It wont go over well with Congress and depending on how he does it, it may be another instance of acting outside his Constitutional authority. Problem is, he doesn't give a s**t. Its his way or the highway. I tell you if he does this, we may as well open the borders and say come one, come all and to hell with America!
