The 416 Taylor is a 458 win mag necked down to 416.Robert Chatfield-Taylor wanted a cartridge that would provide ballistics comparable to those of the .416 Rigby, but fit in a standard length action.
400 Grain bullet at 2350 fps

What is the weight and LOP on the Taylor?

Very nice Winchester
I would add that it sports EAW Apel rings and bases (at least so it seems to me), pivot tipe made in Germany - here in EU they are sold for something around 600eu, and the quality is outstanding. Not easy to install properly, but once done, fantastic.

Very nice looking .416 Taylor rifle. Love that cartridge.

Thank you. It is a really nice rifle and I love the cartridge as well, but unfortunately for my pocket book, I have found a love for double rifles.. I know I will regret selling this, but life goes on and as our tastes/desires change we start a new journey. I suppose if money grew on a couple trees out back I could build a giant "study" if you will, and keep every rifle and not have to think twice. I haven't quiet achieved that level of botany yet though.. I will keep you posted incase I discover the magical technique!

That's quite a fine collection you're offering. I hope you're trading up for a special double.

Do you have pictures of the Lott or Gibbs?

I am having Butch Searcy build me a 375 flanged for hunting Elk and Bear. Might even get a chance one day to take it to Texas one of these days and take a couple boar!IMG_3038.jpgIMG_3040.jpgIMG_3042.jpgIMG_3044.jpg

Magazine capacity of the Gibbs? Is it drilled and tapped for scope mounts?

It'll shoot 400 grainers 2,450 fps (even 2,550 fps) handloaded, so 2,450 is optimal (or 2,350 using even higher SD 450 gr bullets-recommended by Kevin Robertson for ALL 416s.) The Taylor uses 10-20 gr less powder than the Rem or Rigby. I've had great success with it at 2,450 fps from elephant down. 2,350 are factory loads.

Pics of Ruger No. 1 .375 H&H?
