Powder & Primer Deals Today

You all know more than I as I start this reloading path. If I am going to reload, .404, .416, .450ne, .470ne and .500ne, will those federal match magnum primers work in all those?

Short answer is yes, federal 215m will work perfectly in all of those. You could even get away with regular large rifle primers in all of them if you don't hunt in extreme cold. The "magnum" primer, Federal 215, was designed for Roy Weatherby's 378 cases, and they got away just fine before those with large rifle primers. But magnums certainly don't hurt.

My maths may be off, but the Midway sale, when you add in shipping and the hazmat charge...you can get cheaper by actually going and picking it up at Cabela's or Sheel's...seems like.

Man i miss the days of no taxes on things bought on the internet.

Midway is currently free shipping on orders over $100.

The closest store to me that has powder is Academy, extremely limited selection and I believe H4350 was $78lbs + tax last week when I was in there.

One thing Toni about federal primers is that they are often larger in diameter than other brands. This can be be very advantageous if your pockets are a bit large, or it sucks if their a bit tight.
I’ve only had good luck priming federal brass with federal primers, all others primers seem a bit loose. I wish I had all the federal cases that I discarded because I thought the primers pockets were loose.

I was only looking at the Federal Magnum Match primers

Ahhh…. Well a buddy of mine got a brick of 210 & 215m at Scheels a couple months ago and think he paid $69 & $89 dollars for them….. and I would have too!

He’s getting into reloading and I thought having him prime 100pcs of Norma .375 H&H with the 215M as we work up loads for his rifle, primers are so big we couldn’t seat them flush with a hand primer. Ended up having to use a primer pocket uniformer fairly aggressively and then use a Lee ram prime and had zero issues.

That and for the reasons @Wyatt Smith mentioned above, is why I prefer Winchester LRM primers and that’s what my .470ne regulation load stated.

My Norma 375 brass has the same problem with all brands of primers, the pockets are tight. The Hornady VersaPrime has the leverage to get it done without wearing out my hands.

Yeah I used my Lee Ram Prime to finish seating them rather easy compared to hand priming.

FYI for those with a Scheels last weekend I was able to get H4831sc for under $60lbs out the door.
