In January President Trump will be replaced in the news by coverage of the illegal activities involving the Bidet and China, leading to his removal from office. Once ms Horrible is crowned you can count on things going downhill at speeds well beyond the legal limit.

I do think the media will turn on Biden as soon as he is sworn in. My guess is he resigns either due to scandal or health within 6 months.

Power is a drug...

Biden won’t step down... he’ll either have to be forcibly removed.. or he’ll die in office...

Quitting won’t even be a consideration once he assumes the mantle...

Unless he is legitimately physically incapacitated, he is going nowhere. Unlike apparently most on my side, I think I can guarantee that the Democrat party has paid extremely close attention to the down ticket results. With so many state houses now red - in a redistricting year - the last thing that those who run the Democrat party want to do is put a perceived radical at the helm. This is about political power - not personalities (something many on the Republican side need to remember).

The Biden's and their camp won't turn power over to Harris willingly. If Biden gets worse mentally, look for him to have fewer public appearances and Jill and those close to her to run things.

Does not being able to speak a complete sentence without the aid of a teleprompter or needing to be told what city he is in or what day it is qualify as legitimately out of touch?

It is not the internal issues that will challenge the American administration this coming 4 years, but world issues. One day even CNN may give Trump credit for the oil he poured on the world's troubled waters like ISIS and Kim to mention a few. The bad forces are still there, biding their time, building strength. Biden even before any disabilities is not up to this challenge, even Barak conceded that, and nobody will take Harris seriously. No, on the international stage it is probably the Pentagon who will have to be more vocal. For Heaven's sake win the Senate, or the Pentagon could be busy these next four years fixing the foibles of kids released into a laboratory.

I agree with your assessment that it is about power not personalities. There are some in the Democrat party that get that the extremely positions hurt them down the ballot. However, I believe there are others that believe they didnt go left enough, probably quietly blame Joe Biden for not campaigning on more far left positions and the opportunity to get the first women and women of color president will be too much for them to stay quiet on the sidelines.

I think Joe is wise to surround himself with the old guard.

Some of the Anti-gun bills pre-filed in the Texas Legislature for the upcoming secession:

ANTI-GUN MEASURES PRE-FILED

House Bill 52 & House Bill 245 BANNING private firearms sales at gun shows.

House Bill 118, House Bill 606 & Senate Bill 163 BANNING private firearms transfers between certain family members and friends, requiring FFLs to process these transactions that would include federal paperwork for government approval at an undetermined fee.

House Bill 127 & House Bill 213 BANNING long gun open carry with limited exceptions.

House Bill 164, House Bill 395, Senate Bill 84 & Senate Bill 110 red flag GUN CONFISCATION legislation requiring firearms surrender without due process.

House Bill 172 & House Bill 241 BANNING the sale or transfer and possession of commonly-owned semi-automatic firearms.

House Bill 178 & House Bill 234 BANNING the sale or transfer and possession of standard capacity magazines that hold more than 10 rounds.

House Bill 185 MANDATING firearms to be stored in locked gun cases, safes or cabinets.

Except the red flag and gun safe the rest of those have zero chances passing and being signed.

Agree...

And I think the red flag and gun safe bills only have a very small chance of passing..

Then consider that Abbott has veto'd about 50 bills a year, every year since he has been in office.. (far larger annual numbers than any other TX governor in the last 100+ years), and that he has been a pretty strong 2A supporter his entire political career (not an NRA A+... but he has been a consistent "A")..

Even if those bills get passed in the state legislature.. I'd bet my next check, Abbott throws them out the window as soon as they hit his desk...

A somewhat long, but very thought provoking read.

Freedom is never more than a generation away from extinction.

What an extra ordinarily profound statement

Crushed between communism and globalism, the doomsday clock of 'individualism' is at 1 minute to midnight

While the DemonRats perceive those that agree with my conclusions as evil, I consider them as wrong and misguided. I do not see how anyone familiar with twentieth century history particularly the effects of groups such as Gestapo, Stassi, KGB, etc can agree with actions as taken by recent mayors and governors wanting citizens to "rat" on other citizens for alleged wrongdoing.

Are those young people that I see really as brainwashed as they appear?

I read that and don’t disagree too much. Unfortunately, when you have blue living in red and red living in blue, it’s going to be very hard to divide. Unfortunately, I suspect the answer is going to division of the union or an out out shooting war. If I was a betting person, my money would be on the guns. Particularly when you have the blues talking about re-education camps and a Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

It seems like such a logical answer to the problem, but who would initiate it?
Probably isn't even that logical. As @wesheltonj notes, I don't believe that there is nearly as clean a geographic separation as the author speculates. There are two different ways to look at popular vote by county in the county. The first, which we see most often is based upon who won the county. This map creates the impression that their is a clear red and blue America with sharp regional differences.

These are same vote totals expressed in density of the population.

Sorry, the second defied my efforts to enlarge, but I think it is obvious that red thickly incrusts an expanding blue in the major population centers. As the author of this map noted, land doesn't vote, people do.

I do tend to agree with the author, that the "progressive" movement has been on the ascendancy for two generations.

This sort of population and geography calculus makes me particularly uncomfortable when both far right and left talk about taking up arms. It won't be against someone hundreds of miles away - it literally will be against ones' neighbors. I have said this before, the closest historical parallel would be Spain in the 30's. Some of the firebrands on both sides need to actually study that charming historical interlude.

Finally, whichever side "won" such a confrontation would have to institute a totalitarian form of government. Such a war would be based upon intolerance for the opponents' ideas - doctrine if you will. God and Capitalism vs Socialism and Secularism? "Winning", inevitably, would entail eradicating one set of those ideas. That is by definition the very essence of totalitarianism.
