Politics

The real question is.........why are you whining?

Can't handle the truth when it disagrees with you?

Life is too short to argue with anonymous trolls. The people I argue with most vehemently on the politics thread are also the great friends that stop in to my home anytime they are passing through the country. The people on this forum have been invaluable and generous in sharing their knowledge of all things Africa, firearms, gunsmithing, fishing, even family and career. Yeah, and they can hold their own in a friendly debate on the Politics thread where two members will hold three opinions.

I'm not whining, I'm suggesting you are more interested in arguing with strangers than you are passionate about Africa Hunting. Where you've placed your emphasis on this forum in the last five days suggests members won't be stopping by your place to say hello or vice-versa.

Your proof using Masalha as the accepted standard is on a very weak foundation. His version of history is his alone.

Oh, you're not wrong. It's just that you left out a couple of salient points:

Federal law was that a Cuban emigre who was stopped "feet wet" went back to Cuba, but if they made it "feet dry", they were to stay in the US.

Of course, his mother made the determination (despite the custody issues) to leave Cuba. Tragically, his mother died while fleeing, so he made it feet dry, and she did not. Again, from a federal perspective, he was to stay in the US, and his family already in the US was ready to keep and support him (now where have I heard the arguments that children should not be "punished" for the illegal actions of their parents?). This made the dispute a Family Custody issue, and as we know, there are NO federal laws with respect to family custody, that issue is firmly controlled by the States. And, in this case, the State of Florida assigned custody to his Uncle, not his Father. The Administration contested that ruling, pulling it into Federal Jurisdiction. And of course, Federal law was clear. But there were diplomatic concerns.

Simple summary: Federal law said he could stay. One parent was deceased, the other not in this country, so State Law assigned custodial rights. Executive action, with "no controlling legal authority" (remember that line?) re-assigned custodial rights, and enforced that action at gunpoint.

No Kings, right? I mean, we don't trump (no pun intended) standing law based on Administration viewpoints, do we?

So the Federal court made the ruling that in this case they could trump the State court... which led to Federal Agents taking custody at gun point. I agree with you that simply showing up and asking nicely probably would have been unsuccessful (I mean, the family had a State court order on which to rely, didn't they?), but perhaps there was some negotiating that could have been done, first?

And we haven't even begun discussing using snipers to shoot through closed doors, or M-88s used to storm a compound when the alleged suspect could have simply been arrested in the open when he was in daily communication with an undercover agent.

My thesis is simply people are now "protesting" actions they supported when "their side" was doing it, and we've been tolerating these actions for years. And the examples of this have not yet been successfully memory holed, though the Information Operation has been in full swing.

Do you want to hear something really funny? Consider the State Governors who are insisting actions enforcing federal laws are "an unconstitutional action of a tyrant" while simultaneously ignoring the Supremecy clause of the Constitution AND failing to have any State Representative or Senator propose a bill changing the federal law that is being enforced.

you and I are very likely in rabid agreement on everything related to Gonzalez.. like I said, Im no fan of much of anything executed during the Clinton Administration, and as a former cop (municipal, county, and federal badges at different times), I think Janet Reno was the worst leader of the DOJ to serve in my lifetime..

I dont think its a coincidence that Ruby Ridge, Waco, and Gonzalez (and many other just as bad, but lower profile cases) all happened during Renos watch..

And we're likely also very much in agreement on all things happening these days and the duplicity of those protesting and hell raising about the very things they have not only supported, but encouraged for the last few decades..

I'm a pretty big fan of the first amendment and I've certainly learned a lot through debate with liberals, occasionally even finding common ground. However, this is the Africa Hunting forum. As such, the basic rules of entry are that we are good-faith "fellow travellers" passionate about big game hunting. That's what makes the politics forum rather fun, we get to argue with friends that are fellow hunters about the latest ridiculous political updates.

So how does @Frostbite fit in to AH? Not very well. He's been a member for 5 days and in that time he's made 120 posts, 90% of them in the politics section.

The politics section is for arguing amongst friends and forum contributors. A.) Frostbite is nobodies friend as he just showed up, B.) He has not contributed to the core purpose of this forum Africa Hunting.

Why are we putting up with this?
I don’t know about anyone else, but for me it’s been sort of a morbid curiosity. Like looking at a set of Siamese twins. I don’t want to look. I don’t want to stare with gaping mouth disbelief, but, damnit!, I had to. That and it’s been cold, wet, miserable the last two days. And other than corralling the cows and horses for interstate blood tests for transferring to the new farm,.. I had relatively little to do.

After his response to me @#63513, I decided I was just going to have to see if my suspicions were confirmed. They were.

Yet here you are..........arguing

Here's a thought.

If you're so butthurt by the facts that I provide--just don't read them.

And quit whining.

It's probably worth 35 cents.

:D

It's interesting, I think..........but it doesn't make me look like a great hunter.

When you read it you have to remember I was just a dumb 18-year-old kid.
So what’s it like being 18 and half still no clue on what you want to do when you leave home. Maybe try doing nothing and running for government in your banana republic :X3:o_O

I can relate.

I have the same feeling when reading many of the awkward and irrational responses to my posts.

Wow.

It's rare to encounter so much dysfunction and dishonesty all at once.

I've tried to be kind and polite in dealing with it.

I do appreciate the few responses that were realistic and at least somewhat normal.

This discussion with our "esteemed member" still going on ?

Some of you guys are very generous, I hit the ignore button long ago

Every court needs a jester lol...

Its actually entertaining at some points (frustrating at others) to see just how big a set of shoes he can fit into and how bright red of a nose he's willing to wear lol..

that said, he's also clearly a waste of otherwise productive time at this point.. im no longer confused how MN ended up with Tim Walz as governor if this guy actually really believes he is a "moderate" lol..

You seem confused about my age.

You need to read my post on the introductions forum.

I'm 79 now but I do remember what it was like to be 18 back in the 60s and wishing I could hunt Africa like Hemingway did in the 50s.

I didn't know what I was going to do but I eventually had a successful and happy life that included retirement from the military after 22 years total service that included the Vietnam Era.

That service (Navy/National Guard) and medical issues dating from that Vietnam era qualified me for a disability check each month from the VA.

I hope that helps.

Completely concur...

I have on more than one occasion had very passionate debates with more than a couple of different members of this forum..

I actually value that.. the world would be incredibly boring if we all had the exact same opinion on everything..

Which is why I am more than happy to open the doors of my home every year and welcome dozens of members of this forum to eat and drink with my wife and I and celebrate our shared love for all things hunting, africa, etc..etc.. For the most part we are largely kindred spirits.. even if we dont completely see eye to eye on all things..

That said, clowns are clowns.. they also serve a purpose in life.. but generally speaking arent welcome in my home.. they tend to knock things over with their oversized shoes lol..

You have mentioned Walz several times so I'll try to help your confusion about his election.

In a mostly rural State with enough big cities the rural vote can be outnumbered by the votes from the cities.

This gets worse as small farms die and huge corporate farms take over and rural populations keep declining and small towns get smaller.

Minnesota is not the only state with this problem.

So the urban vote outnumbers the rural vote and people like Walz and Ellison get elected by the Liberals and aliens in those big cities.

Lots of good people in similar states have the same problem........basically their votes don't mean a damned thing anymore in statewide or national elections.

It's almost taxation without representation but they say, "You can still vote."

But it's an empty gesture.

Black Muslims like Ellison and Liberal fools like Walz will still get elected in statewide elections.

So now you understand.

I’m still waiting for a response from Frostbite to my rebuttal of his using Masalha Misinformation as proof the Palestinians have lived on the strip for 4 thousand years.
I'd gladly respond if I knew what you're talking about.

I haven't used or claimed any such thing and I don't post misinformation.

Didn't know you were concerned.

I see what you're talking about now........I missed your earlier post.

I've repeatedly said that my concern is the mass murder and ethnic cleansing of the last 100 years or so.

Your concern with four thousand years is not relevant to that.

Note that the dates on my link are 1882-1948.

And that's just one source that backs me up.

read your post again. You posted a link as proof to your claim that Palestinians are being driven off of their land.

The person writing the article has been discredited many times. He uses fake history wrapped in a phony pompous package to fool the uneducated.

It appears that Japan has elected their first female prime minister - Sanae Takaichi

She has vowed to stop Islamist & illegal immigration and to start mass deportations.......

If you think that Trump's deportation tactics are heavy handed, you best put on an emotional helmet and grab your security blanket!

From what Ive read, Takaichi is a super hard line, far right conservative, even by hard line Japanese standards..

Trump likely doesnt have shit on her when it comes to taking an aggressive approach to tackling Japans "problems" (or anything she perceives as a problem for Japan)..

My son happens to have a degree in Japanese Language and Culture, speaks fluent Japanese, and has spent a little bit of time living there.. Im curious what he might think about her (he is politically more left of center than otherwise).. He loves all things Japan and keeps pretty close tabs on most everything that goes on over there..
