Ignore them?

That may be a mistake. We live in a country where everybody gets a vote..........appears to me that those many millions may be voting against your interests so it might be wiser to listen and know your enemy and try to fix the problem.

I watched them and listened to their interviews on tv.

They were mostly normal people, not paid shills and fools.

They were not violent, a fact that embarrassed Trump supporters who had predicted violence.

They articulated their concerns clearly and intelligently and were concerned about Trump's obvious attempts to abuse presidential power (thus the No Kings thing).

Sure, there were some kooks there like all demonstrations but they were a small percentage.

What struck me was the size of those huge crowds.........those people VOTE.

Trump's highly unusual actions in firing many thousands of political enemies without cause, arresting and jailing even children without due process, pardoning obvious criminals because they're Republicans..........and worse, his current tactic of pretending that all the people who disagree with him are terrorists who hate America........

These things are extreme and are obviously causing a huge backlash against Republicans.

When we hunt we have learned that the most important thing is to be aware of the direction of the wind.

Ponder these winds.

These are great points. I am going to reach out to PETA and figure out where my next hunting destination should be. This follows your same logic.

Even if there is 7 million, how many of those voted for president Trump in the last election, how many of those will ever vote for a Republican at any level in my lifetime.

Im willing to bet that 95% of the people at these protests haven't read the Constitution. I will listen to them when they articulate the problem and give details with how they are going to fix it.

For example, you yourself said that Democrats are going to save social security? All I have heard them say is the Republicans want to take it away, they have never given a single feasible detail for how they are going to keep it from going insolvent? I think Hillary did have one idea of removing the wage cap on the ssn tax. But other than that, what else has there been.

Also, I want to say this because to me this is biggest difference in this country right now, Republicans were not embrassed that there wasn't violence at these protests. We are thankful there wasnt. I have never met or talked with anyone who wished or wanted violence. Democrats seem to be the ones upset when there isnt some type of violence.

I don't think you're stupid, but I do think you're coming at the healthcare issue from the wrong direction.

The send a bill in with stratospheric fees only to be paid a much smaller percentage goes on all the time. It's not just Medicare or Tri-Care, that's how it is for anyone who has medical insurance. Trust me, my medical bills this year if going off rack rates, are well into the 6 figure range. But my insurance knocked that down to the low 5 figure range and me paying out somewhere around $3K or so.

These are NEGOTIATED rates between insurance company and health care providers. The providers are not losing money! The only way you can say they're losing money would be akin to me listing one of my M70 rifles for $50000 I bought for $1000, then selling it for $1500 and claiming I lost $48,500.

I am somewhat in spirit with you regarding health care for everyone, at least and only for citizens of the country. But the reason so many don't is because they don't have insurance. They don't have insurance because of the cost. But the health insurance is merely a reflection of the high cost of health care. The ACA was intended to ensure most people had the health insurance. But this was just treating a symptom and not the disease as it didn't address the high cost of health care to begin with. Thus, it was a failure IMO.

The solution to the HC issue is not to force people to pay more and more into a system with a ridiculous inflation rate.
Does anybody pay less than Medicare and Tri-Care?

I don't think so.

They lose money on me because they waste time with me when they could be piling up profits by treating their cash cows extensively.

Private jets from all over the world fly in here all the time.

And, as I said before........I don't think our leaders will ever fix health care or any other of our many problems.

They just fight, insult each other, put on a good show for their loyal followers and pick up their fat paychecks.

It is clear that @Frostbite is either unable or unwilling to view things rationally, so further attempts to point out his/her errors of logic will result only in frustration. So I will not point out the errors of his statements and allow him/her to proceed in ignorance.
Good.

I will continue to point out any errors I see in your logic.

It's my pleasure and it's sort of the general idea of having a discussion forum.

People don't always agree.

Why would I try to fool anyone? No need to do that.

If I supported Democrats I'd damned well say so.

They are as flawed as Trump and they lie almost as much.

Speaking of lying.........

You shouldn't call other members here liars.

You wouldn't call me a liar if I were staring directly into your eyes.

Better to try to politely refute what they say.

With links to back up what you say.
Then why do you happily regurgitate the Democrat party line? Lets just talk about Social Security. The Democrats have been spreading the lie of Republicans trying to stop Social Security since Regan was in office, and it has never been true. Should the system be overhauled? Probably, but neither side will try to dismantle it. You believed it so you aren't lying, but it"s still wrong.

Now name a lie that has come from Trump. Any source yoh can name will come from the left and not actually what Trump said. It will just be, "Well everybody says he's a liar so it must be true." Trump may be to blunt for some, including me, but that is pretty much the opposite of lying.

Can't disagree with you there, it's why we need term limits for the House and Senate IMO.

For example, you yourself said that Democrats are going to save social security?
No, I didn't say that.

And yes, when people predict violence and are proven wrong, they are embarrassed.

Like these fools:
  • House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA): Called the demonstrations "hate America" rallies and claimed they would be filled with "the pro-Hamas wing and... antifa people".
  • Senator Roger Marshall (R-KS): Predicted that "paid protesters" and "agitators" would require the National Guard to be called in.
  • Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy: Suggested the protests were "part of antifa" and spread the false claim that protesters were being paid.
  • Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent: Predicted the protests would feature the "most unhinged in the Democratic Party".
  • Representative Tom Emmer (R-MN): Described the protests as a "hate America rally" led by the "terrorist wing of their party".
  • Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin: Mobilized the state's National Guard to prepare for any potential "chaos".
  • Texas Governor Greg Abbott: Issued a statement that "violence and destruction will never be tolerated" and mobilized the state's National Guard.
  • Oakland County GOP Chair Vance Patrick: Issued a baseless email warning that "left-wing trouble makers" from groups like the Communist Party USA were headed to Michigan's protests.
Strangely enough millions of normal people protested peacefully.

Go figure.

I'll get back to you.

Football is on and watching that is more fun than correcting errors here.

Millions of idiots voted for Harris-Walz and….?

Many think Bad Bunny is quality entertainer and….?

Also just saw a click bait news clip from CBC. Canadian snowbirds are pitching a fit because they have it register with USCBP at the border if planning to stay in US past 29 days- poor beebies :( :( Some complaining they had to wait 1 1/2 hours, oh my God, such a travesty :( :(

I would find another physician. We have been on Medicare /Tricare for eight years. Our care has been superb, and every bit as good as the executive program we had while I was in the corporate world.

I am voting for whomever has the intestinal fortitude to overhaul the tax code.

Make it simple...

3x5 card. I made XXXX, paid YYYY, tax is ZZZZZ. I either owe or are refunded some amount.

I know, crazy talk since we are at the tipping point of more not paying than are.
I"d agree, and I would support a flat rate income tax, but how do you determine how much someone makes? Yes, for those working for set wages it's simple. Now what about those that own businesses? Let's say he owns a wholesale sales company. He sells A billion dollars in goods. Clear so far. Now he paid nine hundred million for those goods. Pretty simple. Then he has to pay his sales and clerical staff. Then insurance, rent, etc. Then there are all the other things that go into running a sales business like entertaining customers and hundreds of other expenses and at the end of the year he has say a couple of hundred-thousand dollars. So where the rub comes in is what part of the billion dollars does he owe taxes on? Not simple.

I never owned a company, but I did work in commissioned sales for a number of years. It's sort of the same thing on a smaller scale. Deductions and write-offs are where things get foggy, and I never had to deal with anyone screaming that I made a billion dollars and needed to pay more taxes.

The healthcare issues could be addressed but first they would need to be identified. People, primarily politicians provide answers, such as the misnamed Affordable Care Act but it is an answer to an undefined problem. The first step to any issue is to define the problem. Is the problem with healthcare that the care lacks quality? or quantity? or that "it" is too expensive? The ACA was supposed to address the last question by making healthcare available and affordable for everyone. Viewed realistically this is unobtainable. There is a finite amount of doctors, specialists, technicians and support staff. For years the amount of people needing health care (demand) has exceeded the doctors/etc (supply). there ae a few reasons for this inequality. 1. Costs of providing healthcare have escalated due to the need for malpractice insurance 2. Time taken away from providing actual healthcare by the need to provide justification, documentation and CYA reports 3. Increased staff to meet HR issues. 4. Others.
The answers to these issues are straightforward but implementation steps on toes. Presently we live in a litigious world. Advertisements are common where attorneys entice people to make claims against healthcare providers and other industries and individuals with the prize of $millions. A reduction in allowable punitive awards would seem a good first step. Secondly, The ratio of Law Schools to Medical Schools would be changed so that there were fewer lawyers and more doctors (supply). And it is shown that govt regulation only increases the actual cost of something, so decrease the govt involvement. Also if the govt want to help the situation, reward people for healthy choices rather than seeking to penalize.

Naw.........this notion that one political party is better is not valid.

Both are crooked and neither gives a damn about us.
my question for you is what is the most important thing your gov. can give to you?
For me its FREEDOM.so then what political party does the most for FREEDOM.
Ive read the constitution and dont recall anything about health care . health rights repo. rights,[abortion]. so hmm we spend more on health care in the USA than anwhere else Im told. most of it goes to big pharma after the drs.
Besides you said your 20 yrs retired, so not to rain on your party but prepare to die, its unavoidable.

We could dedicate a whole new thread to this, but I’m sure you’d play the “fake news” card and feel greatly satisfied.

People of both political parties have always fought for freedom at home and abroad--did you think that those of us who went in uniform have voted for only one political party?

I am prepared to die and didn't need your warning of my impending death, but thanks for the friendly advice.

:)
