I do not have an issue with what Macron and some of the other European leaders expressed.

Because to export those things you need to export much of the underlying culture that allows those things to be created and maintained. That kind of change takes decades if not generations to achieve.

Heck, we would not have the Constitution or all of the Amendments today. We no longer have the underlying culture. Electoral college would be first to be eliminated followed by the 2nd Amendment.

Edit: Forget our Constitution and amendments just regular democracy can fail if the culture is not ready for it. Look at the Arab Spring, Iraq, Afghanistan etc..

If the goal was more defense in Greenland, looks like what otherwise would have taken 5years of EU leaders handwringing, got done in a few weeks.

Since most Nato members seems so eager to try to keep Trump happy and the illusion of the strenght of the transatlantic link alive I think that it would have been much easier to just ask them to strenghten the defense of Greenland instead of creating all this mess.

I think that this is more of him backing down due to how it affected the markets rather then reaching a goal he could have reached without damaging relations in this way.

Trump expresses his desire to run for a third term (unconstitutional but so what?) ... and contemplates suspending midterms (also unconstitutional) ... then says he should have called out the Guards to seize voting machines in 2020 (questionable if unconstitutional but unquestionably nuts). Seems kinda "kingly" behavior to me. Many are concerned calling up the Guards for ICE support in places where support was clearly not needed was just a leadup for using them to control midterms. Maybe far fetched ... but no crazier than this Greenland nonsense.

It seems Carney is laser focused on his larger agenda regardless of who he hurts. The Public Service is facing large layoffs despite rallying to him, and Ford looks mightily disappointed too despite his election time support. It’s as if Carney doesn’t care to salvage a relationship with the USA.

Suddenly, just like that, the Chinese manufacturers of electric vehicles are willing to set up factories here, and fill that gap. Does Canada achieve the electric vehicle mandate in three years? One of our largest industries is now tied to Beijing and not Detroit (new world order) And we have electric vehicles everywhere as the most affordable and available mode of transportation.

I certainly don’t know the details but it is my understanding that BYD makes more money from selling carbon credits to EU, Canada, Australia than they make on their vehicles.

Those countries are basically subsidizing China to bring cars into their countries.

I certainly don’t know the details but it is my understanding that BYD makes more money from selling carbon credits to EU, Canada, Australia than they make on their vehicles.

Those countries are basically subsidizing China to bring cars into their countries.

To date BYD is not authorized to sell carbon credits in Canada.

I am not sure subsidizing is the right concept here. What they do is partner with other companies to help reduce those companies taxes, so already resident/native companies get to reduce their tax bill by working with BYD.

I’m not worried about trump running for a third term, JD or Marco will make great presidents , besides Obama got his 3rd when Biden was faked into office
JD or Marco Rubio will hold the torch for MAGA and world order, I don’t see the democrats finding a suitable candidate anytime soon, nobody wants greasy Gavin except those idiots in California, Minnesota , Seattle and maybe limp wristed Canada

You are correct regarding BYD and Canada. I knew the EU and Australia bought carbon credits from BYD and was painting with too broad a brush. My bad.

European auto makers especially buy the carbon credits from ev companies like and including BYD, making their own vehicles higher in price and basically subsidizing the imports of their competitors into their countries.
