And what exactly does an army major and Fox talking head know about the senior leadership of the armed forces? He has no idea how it functions, its relationship to civilian authority, or the industries and the leadership which supports it. I say this as a former US Army O4 who clearly understood is limitations - this feels like a bad joke.

Respectfully, I'd suggest he probably understands enough about leadership to know that Milley and those who think like him aren't worth whatever good they bring to the table. The military's job, my expectation anyway, is to kill people and break stuff. All of the woke crap is a distraction from that, makes us less capable, not more.

From where I sit, the purging started under Obama. They purged the wrong people. "Get with the program or get out." But Obama changed what the program was.

You and I are in total agreement in that regard. It is just that the SECDEF has a monumental job that requires his personal efforts to coordinate the Hill, the executive branch, industry, every state governor (National Guard), and a host of international contacts to achieve the goals of the department in a host of different domains. Recruitment is important, but pretty far down the critical actions list for the SECDEF.

I wish him every success.

If Hegseth can accomplish nothing else, he needs to get rid of this virus. As I understand things, DEI officers exist at the brigade level in a lot of units. That's the exact equivalent of Soviet-era zampolit. That position has absolutely no business existing in our military.

It's not a new department of the government. It's an "outside" advisors (really just Musk and Vivek currently, as far as I can tell), that he gave a government sounding name to.

And regardless if it is or is not an actual government group, it is DESPERATELY needed. We have an outrageous amount of wasted tax dollars every year to departments, agencies, positions, and otherwise money sucking leeches. Anyone who can go clean this up could offer their services for just 1% of the cost savings found by canceling BS programs and firing worthless jobs, and easily be a top 1% annual income earner. More importantly, the savings can be used to reduce our annual deficit or even better start paying it down without cutting a single dollar from any other budget.

Pulling the plug on the DEI effort would be important, and I trust he gets that done quickly. It will be the easiest thing with which he will face. I pray he is indeed a child prodigy.

So DOGE was created a long time ago as a joke. Elon has made jokes about it previously.

The coin you are referencing is another coin someone made off an Elon tweet, and it all kind of stuck and gone somewhat viral.
