LOL.. Too bad the majority of republican leadership didn't heed Reagan's advice in 2016 in regard to Trump...

Taking nothing away from Reagan, that quote was applicable in a completely different political climate than what we have endured in the last 16 years... In today's America, the 20% we disagree upon is significantly more important than it was before... When that 20% of our "disagreements" are comprised of hateful rhetoric, incitement of violence, total disregard for the Constitution, and weaponizing U.S. institutions for the purpose of destroying those who do not share the same political ideologies, the 80% of agreement is practically meaningless...

Pre-Trump, bipartisan compromise was possible before the other side's ideologies had gone completely insane... This most recent defeat will not change a thing... They will not reflect, and they will not change... They are doubling down on their losses and the hateful rhetoric just as strong as before... Our only hope is withholding power from their grasp...

As far as the RINO's, Never-Trumper's, and Anti-Trumpers go, they also need to look in the mirror just like the dems, and reflect on the overwhelming mandate that was just handed down by the American people for the second time... They wounded this country badly and pissed away a golden opportunity because they failed to respect Trump's first mandate of the people in 2016... I can only hope that they are capable of reflecting on past mistakes and put county first this time around...

Brent,

I'm not sure Trump could have done much more differently in trying to work with his own party. If you recall, republican leadership rejected him, not the other way around... As I said above, I truly hope they don't piss away a second opportunity to get actual legislation passed instead of forcing him to use EO's exclusively... We won't get a third...!
I don’t break bread with my enemies.
I kick my enemies when they are down.
Fairness is for the boxing ring not war or politics. Democrats and RINO’s are the enemy and I have no use for either one.

I can see both sides of it. GOP wants to make sure that only citizens vote. Democrats wants to make sure that their voters do not have impediments to voting.

The reason I do not have a "Real ID" is that it is a pain in the ass to get one. I have to provide a proof of citizenship and two proofs of residency like light bill or a gas bill. One of my companies owns my house and utilities are not in my name. Getting a copy of a birth certificate involves a lot of work as well. Not to mention, because there is a cost involved, it is like a poll tax. Heck, if I had not gotten a passport as a kid and not kept on renewing it, I'd have to through all of that if I had to prove citizenship.

And do you really think tens of thousands of non-citizens are voting?
Another load of BS as sourced from the left.

You never heard of "motor voter"? Once a drivers license is established, a ballot is sent out!? Then they don't check up on that mail in ballot? Heck yes they vote illegally--that was the whole plan of Democrats bringing them in by plane, etc. Jeesh!

If you are correct, and should the Trump coalition hold together and expand to an even larger portion of the Hispanic vote (I think it can under the right candidate in '28), then we won't have to worry about it much longer. The democrat party will quickly become the anti-immigrant party.

It looks to me that Trump's win came mostly from people who had had enough of the liberal nonsense. They just want normal. Look at the California swing and the popular vote.
The Democrats seem to have done some immediate soul searching, their tone is far more conciliatory, and the Republicans should take note lest the pendulum swings back again.
As others have said, there is a chance here for a generational Republican/conservative movement, but it needs to be carefully planned for and executed because it all depends upon holding that middle ground with sensibilities. The liberals are emotion driven, it is all over the top, do or die extreme. The Democrats have made a fatal mistake adopting and pandering to that. They largely know it, so now more than ever Republicans/conservatives need to be calm and confident and strong. Plant the olive branches and enjoy the olives, the votes in 2028 will reward you.
Even as we speak, the Dems are plotting to do everything they can to sabotage and destroy Trump's Presidency.
If we can win the house, we will have them completely on their heels. Republicans need to land a haymaker right on the chin and knock the dems completely out of the ring.

Biden may shake Trumps hand, but he is holding a dagger in the other. Democrats are snakes, and deserve no better then to be crushed underfoot

I saw that most of this pollution is being caused by farmers burning the stubble from their fields getting ready to plant next years crops. Definitely doesn’t make it right. I would think turning it back into the soil would be more beneficial than the little bit of nutrients they get from burning.
No idea what type of stubble they are burning but it does require extra nitrogen to break down that extra organic matter.

And they may not have the equipment to plow down the stubble without constant plugging.

I'm sure the Biden administration woukd be happy to send some US taxpayers money over there to cover those fields with solar panels to solve this problem.....

No the 20% wasn’t less important then. You’re just caught up in the rhetoric now or were too young then to realize it. Soviet Union evil empire, East\West Germany, Strategic Defense Initiative, nuclear weapons threats, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Libya, hostages, assassination attempts, runaway interest rates and inflation, etc… just as busy and troublesome as now. Sam Donaldson tearing into Reagan every chance he got, etc…

Why guys like you would rather fight with other republicans than fight the democrats is beyond me.

Once again Scott, you and Mr. Red Leg have either not read what I have said, or you are electively disregarding my point of view because it does not align in lockstep with your own... As far as being too young for your 80's references, I am probably older than you, and I have a very solid understanding of the political climate then and now... I'm speaking more directly to domestic politics rather than foreign policy issues....

As far as being caught up in the "rhetoric", correct me if I am wrong but I don't ever recall Sam Donaldson referring to Reagan as Hitler or calling him the greatest threat to American democracy... Nor do I recall Tip O'Neill launching any fabricated impeachment investigations, or weaponizing the DOJ or CIA during Reagan's terms...

I have no interest in fighting with anyone, liberal or conservative, who share common-core American values, culture, and respect the Constitution and the rule of law it is supposed to uphold. I will fight all day long with hypocrites, charlatans, race pimps, and any other treasonous bastards who are apparently comfortable with doing whatever is necessary to carry out their political agendas regardless of the consequences... If you don't recognize the differences, maybe it's you that is part of the problem...?

LOL. 1980’s or 2020’s, last I looked at that whole math thing, Trump still needs the votes - RINOs and all - to accomplish any legislation. But by all means let’s stay focused on that circular firing squad, because we are so much more self righteous embracing political idiocy.

You still don't get it my friend... It's not about self-righteousness... It's about elected politicians representing the will of the constituency that elected them...

What you call a circular firing squad is part of a new mandate within that party where a line must be drawn, and a purge of GOP dinosaurs is necessary no matter how painful, personal, or ugly it may indeed become... Where we differ is that you think it's the MAGA republicans and Freedom Caucus members are the problem, whereas I see it as the RINOS, Never-Trumpers, and Anti-Trumpers within the republican party that are the ones who need to do some self-reflection and wake up to see that the party is moving past them in a more aggressive and definitive direction toward a much more populist platform... The good news for them is that there are always jobs available for them outside of the government in Legacy media, or writing a book calling Trump Hitler...

You of all people should not need reminding that the founders intended our elected officials to represent the will of their constituents, not their own personal will. Many in the GOP seem to have forgotten or disregarded that notion... How it is that you and others are okay with the status quo in D.C. is baffling to me?

Your constant argument here is that the constituents represented by these RINOs keep re-electing them so they must be doing something right... I disagree... Institutional career politicians are historically very difficult to remove on both sides of the isle... This is especially true with Senators who serve 6-year terms. Voters in these down ballot positions tend to vote more out of familiarity and complacency than they do on the issues... Republicans flipping control of the Senate is a good indication that trend may indeed be changing and the republicans who still attend the Church of Mitch McConnell had better take note. They are slowly but surely being rejected by the newer generation of republican voters who want candidates with spine representing them...

You stated the case precisely. However you may feel superior to or somehow smarter than those republican politicians who do not agree with you on every subject, or how much you may be frustrated with the voters who put them there, those politicians are indeed exercising the will of the constituency who elected them. They do not answer to you or Tucker Carlson or even Donald Trump. They answer only to their constituency. That is exactly how the founders intended.

I suspect, though I am unsure, Trump is smart enough to not waste his valuable and likely time constrained mandate fighting with his own party like so many seem to think he should. For these first two years to matter, he needs to be laser focused on the achievable. Regardless of the makeup of the a future senate and house, he will be a lame duck for his last two.

We can only hope this scenario works out in the three letter agencies.

The Newt Gingrich piece that follows that is a bit long but really worth listening too all the way through.

I am a huge fan of Victor Davis Hanson. Sadly, he should get out more, or perhaps merely visit our politics thread?

Well in Texas they tried the poll tax argument, then Texas came out with the free voter ID that’s a legal ID and good for 10years… it’s free.

Yes illegals are voting - Washington states 2005 gubernatorial race was decided by less than 400 votes and a federal audit found that 1,500+ illegals voted in that election.

And I believe it’s no coincidence that Cartels base their Pacific Northwest distribution of narcotics out of Washington because of their ultra week enforcement of laws on illegals.

it’s actually critical to the whole idea of voting that voting is exercised by legal voters.

I could be wrong.
you are not wrong.

if one is required to have I.D. to drive a car, buy a beer, enter a federal facility, fly on an airplane....it is not unreasonable for the same person to be required to have a legit I.D. to vote. why would anyone wanting accurate and fair elections dispute that?
