I’m very sorry about your colleagues and what you all and the Pentagon went through that day and the aftermath.

The Pentagon and the people that work there are amazing. About eleven and a half years after 9/11, Wendy, our twins and I, after background checks, were given a private tour of the Pentagon by a Colonel in JSOC. It was the highlight of our spring break trip to Washington, DC for us and our high school aged twins. I am convinced that it helped permanently shape the twins and their patriotic beliefs and respect for the USA and our military. The Colonel spent a lot of time showing us some of the areas that were rebuilt after 9/11. It is truly a remarkable place and all the people we met were great.

To anyone reading this, consider taking your kids and grandchildren to Washington for their spring break week when they are old enough (Jr High and HS) to absorb the history and significance of not only the Pentagon, but also all the monuments and museums. Our kids were already patriotic and Republican leaning but our trip cemented it for life for them. With everything out there in our liberal education system, it’s incredibly important to offset all of it by talking to your kids and showing them things like Washington, DC and the Pentagon. You might not get a private tour of the Pentagon unless you know someone working there but the Pentagon does offer a limited tour for tourists.

I had never been to our Capital, let alone the Pentagon. However, about 10 years ago, I was asked if I wanted to go for an Air Force Reserve briefing on how the Reserves does business in the Pentagon. I didn't think twice about it and jumped at the opportunity. We had the honor of having one of the Honor Guard gives us a tour of the pentagon, and this sharp NCO, walked backwards while briefing us. During the afternoons, I took advantage and visited as many sites as I could. I've been twice and I'm planning on going back.

If I may switch gears a bit, the Pentagon, like lower Manhattan, was a rough place to be 23 years ago. My XO walked into my office to report the second aircraft had hit the second tower, and I had just spoken to Jack Keane who was letting me know that the Army was fully manning the operations center. I was about to call the staff leads of the Senate and House Armed Service Committees to inform them that our assessment was that this was obviously a terrorist event and that we would pass along information as we had it. At that moment the AA flight from Dulles hit the Pentagon. It was around the corner from my legislative liaison team, and we were fortunate to only suffer only from falling ceiling tiles and dense smoke. The Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel and his folks were struck directly. Many were close colleagues.

We helped people out of that wing of the building for the next several hours. Many were horribly burned.

By late afternoon, we had a pretty good understanding of what happened and any potential other threats. At Jack Keane's request, I took a young major from the G2 over to the Hill around dusk to brief Trent Lott and the rest of the House and Senate leadership about what we knew. They had gathered in a conference room in the Capitol Police headquarters building. In typical Donald Rumsfeld fashion, he had refused to consult with the Congressional Leadership. They had then contacted General Keane who was the Army Vice Chief at that time.

It was fascinating to watch the Congressional Leadership, without a hint of political bias, go through the decision process to insure the government would be open for business the next day.

Cell and landline communications were a mess most of the day. One of my team finally was able to get through to his spouse around mid-afternoon who was then able to let my spouse know that we were fine.

As I say, it was an unpleasant day.

It certainly was. I was leading the refining and terminal system that fueled Elmendorf and Eielson AFB’s. In very short order we had many of your colleagues ensuring that our assets were well protected. If they had reverse ordered the attack, taking out energy infrastructure first, our nation would have been crippled. A lot of good work happened in very short order to protect that infrastructure. Most have never even heard about it. Thanks for your service Joe.

Probably be forced to use GAAP accounting and accrual based income reporting.

That of course begs a couple more questions. Does everyone need to utilize a CPA to calculate their taxes? And not everyone is up to the required record keeping. It's time consuming and expensive.

Now if you only have a house and stocks it is probably fairly straight forward. But in farming we are still allowed cash accounting based tax reporting. That is nessasary to be able to even out the good years and the bad years because it is so cyclical and unpredictable.

And then the big question is what about losses? Will losses be recognized and tax credits issued? Will the IRS write checks to reimburse for unrealized losses?

It's a very difficult road to go down. I hope it is all just rhetoric to sound like she is putting the screws to the wealthy. But the people who will be hurt the most will be the common middle class investors with invested nest eggs.

What needs to be realized is that Harris like Obama does not believe the minions should have wealth. They should live and die pay check to pay check with the government "taking care" of them.

The her desire to meddle in food prices will further create the communist state where the government controls that as well. Take a good look at how government run farms had done in the old Soviet Union. We got a preview of the empty shelves during Covid-19. That will be the norm.

When Harris says she still has "more work to do" she means more taxes, more regulations, more and bigger government, more handouts, more inflation.

When Obama talked about "fundamentally changing America" he meant towards Socialism and ultimately Communism. When these Democrats talk about more to do and finishing the job they started.... that is what they are telling us.
Bob I can do my taxes with a Big Chief tablet and a crayon.

I’m sitting at DFW airport right now… catching a flight to DC…

Will be attending a 9/11 memorial event this evening at Rex in Old Town Alexandria, right around the corner from the Pentagon..

It’s been more than 20 years… and this day is still very sobering for me…

I’m saddened and angered honestly by how many people have already forgotten, or choose to ignore its significance…

- to absent friends…

I personally will never forget…

Trump should continue rallying, find better debate prep consultants,

What would make you think he'd listen to and act on their advice?

Trump told Hannity that he would agree to another debate as long as it was with an unbiased platform. I don't blame him.

That would help with not letting Harris look good, but it wouldn't prevent Trump from once again inhaling the crank baits she so easily throws at him.

Trump is a terrible debater. many of his opponents in the primaries would’ve cleaned Harris‘s clock. There were so many layups that Trump missed.

For instance, the obvious one is he could’ve made a joke about debating three people instead of just Harris. ABC was far more biased than CNN.

So many layups missed...perhaps he is too old for this job..? Cognitive abilities..?

I would say it's more about having the emotional control to not take the bait and giving an emotion driven response to a post like you just made.

Obviously, he doesn’t listen to all of his advisors. He didn’t when he was in office. That is why the Abraham Accords became effective.

He certainly didn’t have a problem listening to his son in law during that negotiation. I doubt Kushner is an effective politician though. Maybe his running mate or his future CIA director (RFK) would lend some advice. I know a lot of the never-Trump crowd hate Vance. He is fantastic on a microphone though. Dems and RINOs were always going to hate Trump’s VP pick. He could’ve picked Hillary, and the MSM would’ve become very honest about her past.

Bottom line: Trump believes he is far better on the debate stage than he is. I do doubt he will change now. That is why I purposed he agree to a debate with moderators that aren’t tied to the MSM.

3 against 1. I can dismiss your Cognitive abilities comment. It's a chess game. Trying to play 1 game 1 player against 3 opponent players is futile.

I concur Trumps closing should have been his opening. Trump should have capitalized on missed "layups". Trump should have attacked the Biden/Harris administration more. Trump should have boasted more about his previous administration record vs Biden/Harris administration record and the preverbial "witch hunt" to keep Trump from being a legitimate candidate.

IMO: Overall the debate was fruitless. Harris was given the "soft glove" treatment while Trump was given a constant reminder on past quotes and wasn't given the proper chance to respond as the moderators were quick to turn to Harris for continued "new question" and her response.

IMO; Harris will withdrawal from any future debate that isn't biased against Trump.

MSM is an illegal propaganda machine, aka PSYOPS (Psychological Operations) propaganda operation, being used against the American people on American soil.

I remember that day like it was yesterday. We were living in Sequim, WA where the Strait turns south. I looked out my kitchen window that morning and all I saw were military boats, ships, and aircraft. They were patrolling the waterway in force and kept it up all day. I turned the tv on and was dumfounded. We spent the day watching the tv news. Everything was pretty tight for the next week with law enforcement and the military out in force.

I think the only advisers he listens to are those that either say what he wants to hear for the sake of their own employment or they honestly are in agreement with his position. I don't think any of his advisers who outwardly disagrees with him lasts long in his employ much less has their opinion seriously considered. That's may be okay when running your own land development business, I think not so much when POTUS.

All this posturing, dog and pony shows, rallies, sound bites and interviews don't amount to a pisshole in the snow right now. All hot air and bs. Nov 7 will tell the tale. Nothing else counts. Remember hrc was a sure thing, way ahead in everything and look what happened. Hide and watch.

All hot air and BS matters if it will sway the independents or even more importantly get people out to vote for Nov. 7

Agree, but that's no reason not to make improvements to your game plan. Given the situation, this should not even be a race for the Republican nominee.

I agree MDwest. Let’s raise a toast to those that fell that day and since. In the war on terror

To our fallen comrades, friends, and family...of those we have never yet met.

Cheers,! Salute!
