Hi, I'm new to the forum and looking into options for a Plains Game hunt, a mixture of cull and Trophy animals over about 7 hunting days sometime around Q3 or Q4 of 2026. I have been to RSA and want to go somewhere different (no high fences). I have done a very challenging ibex hunting a few months ago so am prepared for a challenging hunt, and would hate to just drive round and shoot stuff off a pickup. I would be bringing my 27 year old daughter and would like to agree a package hunt that we could hunt between us. Not really looking for luxury lodges, I would rather spend the money on hunting.
I would possibly bring my own rifle but that will depend on logistics so could do with some advice on that as well. I have a 308 which I think should be fine for what we would be hunting. I'm based in the UK.
While I enjoyed RSA, I definitely want to go somewhere else as life is too short to go back to the same country.

:S Welcome:
Have a look at Namibia

Definitely contact Philip Hennings at @KHOMAS HIGHLAND HUNTING SAFARIS

I completely agree with @Mekaniks.

It sounds like a perfect fit for you and your daughter. Tough mountain hunting.

Say you don’t want to shoot from the truck and you will regret not bringing a camel pack water canister.

It’s low fence as these are old and current cattle ranch operation properties. Crawling with oryx and mountain zebra and warthogs, steenbok, duiker, brown heyena, leopard, wildebeest

Kudu live in the hill and if you get lucky a mature bull is always a treat. There are some big oryx bulls around.

Namibia is what you want. Lot of good Namibian sponsors here as a starting point. Rifle import into Namibia is extremely easy. It’s issued in 5 minutes on arrival.

I would like to see more outfitters listed and or reports , as Namibia may well be in my future hunt too. thanks.

Just hunt with Philip. The terrain is incredible and he’s a long time site sponsor. I’ve sent a handful of people to go just on my word.

I’m just a happy customer. I was Lucky to find this sight 2 years before my first trip. A lot of smart people recommend Namibia and Philips organization.

Lots of great sponsors on AH, talk to several of them and you’ll find something that works for you.

Q3 is okay but I wouldn’t recommend a Q4 hunt. Too hot.

Kambaku near Otjiwarongo in Namibia is worth a look as well. It is fenced, but a very large fenced area. Excellent PHs, a choice of a comfortable hotel owned by the same people or a very nice bush camp.

They have a lot of UK guests and a very sound, ethical operation. We did drive in to areas but all the hunting was on foot and sometimes with very long walks involved.

Eco Hunter is an outfitter offering what you are looking for as well. I am currently trying to book through them.

Very happy to speak to you if you PM me.

I would throw Zimbabwe into the conversation. Nuanetsi Ranch is a fantastic plainsgame destination with DG available as well. Save Valley conservancy has good plainsgame as well. Outfitters to talk to are Mokore safaris and Thierry Labat PM me for contact details. Also other outfitters that are fantastic in both areas but I know those two personally and would recommend them .Mokore can also do Mozambique, some of the best plainsgame hunting I have seen.

Be careful of hunting Chewore South, the area has been decimated.....

Curious about this. I hunted Chewore South with D&Y in September and they did tell me it was there last hunt there.

Which outfits shot it out?
Impala cull hunt for camp meat!
