Is the Afton House still in bussiness?

Paul

Never mind , just read a post on a forum here and I'm happy to say that they still are.

I want to say up front I have never stayed there but @Kevin Peacocke recommends the Johannesburg Club where they have accommodations and a great restaurant filled with nostalgia and I trust him. On my next trip if I end up having an extra day which I have never had, I want to try it.

I’ve stayed in both, and have stayed twice at Africa Sky. Gilbert is an amazing rep, and his working knowledge of the airport is bar none.

We stayed at Africa Sky. Our first trip to Africa. Picked us up at the gate getting off the plane. Walked us through baggage claim and the SA Police Office to pick up our guns. Fed us supper and breakfast. Took us back to the Airport and got us checked in for the trip to Namibia. They covered all the bases.

As everyone is answering his question by stating somewhere else other than Afton. I will recommend Intercontinental at JNB. Another choice is City Lodge at JNB.

I was at the city lodge last month. Its super convenient that it's basically attached to the airport. It was nicer than I expected and pretty affordable. I ate dinner and breakfast there and the food was quite good.

I have stayed at Africa Sky and Aftons. I prefer Aftons, my wife likes Africa Sky.

Which is why I always stay there. Stayed at Afton once just not for me compared to the convenience and food of City Lodge

I’ve stayed at all 3. Multiple times. Africa Sky is the best in my opinion. I always stay in the same 2 bedroom suite.

I’ve stayed at Afton Lodge 4 times, enjoyed it very much. This fall I stayed at City Lodge, it is very handy, good value, right at the airport.

I am righthanded, so not interested in the rifle, but I have a 375 RUM and 350 gr bullet loading data is very hard to come by. If you could reply with information regarding your loads I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Ray Boone, Leavenworth, WA

Hello - I was looking at your post from several years ago regarding the Winchester 300 H&H. Any chance you still have the lefty M70 300 H&H for sale?
Thank you, Mike

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
