Hi all,
I thought you may like to see this original .275 Rigby.

A truly special thing.

Beautiful! Congrats!

who was it made for and when?

You are correct! I certainly did enjoy looking at the pictures and especially the detailed ones of the peep sight.

To much to ask for a range report with any additional history on the rifle that you care to share?

Thanks for the comments. I’m fortunate to be the custodian of this fine rifle. I lucked into it a couple of years ago when I was visiting George Caswell at Champlin’s. He had just gotten it in but hadn’t listed it yet and I made a deal for it.

I have some of the history he provided but can’t put my finger on it at the moment. I’m pretty sure this came out of a long time collection in Montana. Believe the guy had designed a bunch of PGA golf courses and heirs were selling off his large collection after he died. I am not sure about this rifle but as happened with a lot of these sporting rifles, the original owners were killed in the wars and their families held onto the rifles for a couple of generations. Many probably didn’t see the light of day for decades

I haven’t had time to shoot this one yet but will. The bore is absolutely as new and the Rigby diopter sight is fantastic and so precisely machined and positive in use.

Absolutely stunning piece of art! Congratulations.

Ask marc at Rigbys...give him the serial number and will tell you who it was built for and when...also regulated for the 140grn bullet..

Hi Spike,
Thanks for the tip. I wasn’t sure if the original records survived. I’ve followed your advice and emailed them and will post back with what I learn.

Beautiful rifle. One of my dream acquisitions, which will likely never happen! :)

a nice find sir!

Marc would love to see the pictures as well.

Now find a .416 to go with it.
