The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has confirmed that it is granting import permits for lions legally harvested in Zambia and Zimbabwe. This, a number of days after SCI issued an email alert to members about the matter.

According to an item the FWS posted on its website, individuals who hunted or will hunt lions from these two countries between Jan. 1, 2016 and Dec. 31, 2018 may apply for import permits. https://www.fws.gov/international/permits/by-activity/sport-hunted-trophies-lions.html.

The FWS previously announced that it was granting permits for wild and wild managed lions from South Africa.

The FWS has yet to make a decision concerning import permits for lions from Namibia, Mozambique and Tanzania. SCI will continue to monitor the Service’s progress on this decision-making and will update SCI members as soon as there are any new developments.

All I can say is heck to the yes

Good news.

Hopefully, they will lift the ban on the rest of the countries, as well as Elephants.

Slowly but surely better minds are taking control of that agency!

Great news!

News flash!! Lions hunt prices soar!;)
Yea Johnny, should have taken him last year for $10,000 and put him in storage and now you would just bring him home. (I am only guessing you can place a lion skin in long term storage).

This is excellent and a step forward for us hunters!!
