Just back from a NZ trip. Time is somewhat scarce for a detailed written account, but as they say, pictures tell a thousand words, so here are a few.

The environment and scenery were amazing and at times demanding, the people colourful and friendly and the entire experience utterly memorable.

And the food ... I'll be missing the pork belly and apple pies for some time to come.

We saw bull tahr, chamois, fallow and red deer (including some massive red stags) and even some pigs.

I'll be back for a chamois ;-)

Looks Awesome @Tintin, definitely on my bucket list!

Where in New Zealand? I just hunted Tahr in Geraldine close to the Peel Forest, on the east side of the mountain range at Lake Tekpo. I hunted Chamois on the northwest side of Mount Cook range.

Hey @Justbryan - your report was great - even it did make me feel a bit slack with my lacklustre report ;-)

We were in the same general area - amazing country.

We also went further south, almost to Queenstown, where I got my ram and a couple of the lads got chamois.

Great pictures. Lots of snow this year. This was my second trip.

Yes lots of snow still around

the first day hunting was very fine weather which meant we had about another foot of water in the river to cross the following day :-)

Congrats and thanks for sharing!

We’ve got a hunt in NZ booked for May 2025… super excited about it!

Nugget here. A guide gave me the nickname as I looked similar to Nugent at the time. Hunting for over 50 years yet I am new to hunting in another country and its inherent game species. I plan to do archery. I have not yet ruled out the long iron as a tag-along for a stalk. I am still deciding on a short list of game. Not a marksman but better than average with powder and string.
