Hi Everyone, New member from Bulverde, Texas (north of San Antonio). Going to the East Cape of Africa with my wife this coming February. Doing a short three-day Kudu hunt, wife hanging out doing her spa stuff, before we head off to do the tourist safari thing at one of the private reserves. This short hunt is a prep with the PH for an extended hunt with a few buddies of mine in 2021. First time to Africa and really looking forward to it. NRA Life member, ex-military. Enjoy cowboy action shooting, practicing at the range, and hunting when time allows. Favorite rifles are a Mauser M12 Max chambered in 9.3x62 (my bush gun, light, quick, accurate, and will knock anything down) and a CZ 550 chambered in 300 win mag (my long range gun, heavy and hate lugging it in the field, but shoots so damn well I tolerate it). Dream rifle is a custom 404 Jeffery....some day when I’m rich and famous That’s about it. Looking forward to being a forum member and talking about hunts and guns.
Giday and welcome to the A H forums @Fastrig . Heres hoping for you to be rich and famous very soon so you can get the dream rife in 404 Jeffery. Post up lots here on the forum and you will at least be famous amongst us so that is half way there.
Most certainly will. Going to hunt with PH Nick Bowker. Heck of a nice gentleman and he’s been very helpful with advice as we’ve been making our plans. Looking forward to sitting around a camp fire with him and planning a full hunt for 2021 with my mates.
Giday, though we would say Howdy...got to love the English language Thanks! I’ll be sure to post enough to be pseudo famous amounts my fellow members, though hopefully not infamous
Glad to have you on the forum Fastrig! Looking forward to your first hunt report! Oh yes, and thank you for your military service!
Welcome, I am not too far from you. In San Antonio, the DSC South Texas Chapter is very strong and its events well attended. The Alamo SCI not so much. But if want to talk Africa Hunting in person those would be two places to start.
Welcome! You might find February a bit warm (but not by Texas standards) and might have to deal with rain. When you plan your 2021 hunt, you might go 3-4 months later. Just a suggestion.
Thanks. Was told February wasn’t the most popular time to hunt but that’s the slower season at my company and when we could get away. Will probably try to go in June for the full hunt.
