I'd put my money on rabies being the contributing factor for this one.

I would think rabies as well. It's in the dead of winter so it could have been very desperate (size wise the dogs and child fits) but this sounds over the top aggressive - especially if it's the same coyote that chased a car

This particular coyote went after numerous people that day and earlier. Pretty sure rabies played a part.
