Gorgeous rifle, but sub-10lb 470 would likely prove unpleasant. It’s so strange how varied their finish weight was. I have a 450/400 from 1912, which is a fixed lock, with wonderful restoration, and it’s almost 11lb.

Have to also say, the seller has several very, very nice listings. Worth a review.

Yes those Purdey doubles in .500 and .600 NE are quite special but I could not imagine shooting those monstrosities with a metal butt plate! It might leave a unique bruise however.

Some of those listings just reiterate to me that money is truly an imaginary thing to some people in the world and that many of these types of guns are just art for people with really deep pockets......I wish I was one of them.
