I went and did it, bought a Weatherby again. It seems that Weatherby is more interested in making more cartridges that are not needed (RPM) than making sure there is brass and ammo available for existing rifles!
If anyone has some 338-378 brass to spare I’d be very appreciative! My charity “leave no 338 behind” has left me with a 11-1/2 pound paper weight that isn’t even particularly fun to look at!

thanks,
Cody

Why?

It is a great rifle. I like it. Especially in mark v accumark with fluted stainless barrel. Bullets hit the target in amazing speed. Good for long range shots in the west. Even though my go to gun is 340 wby the 338'378 is for western hunting where shots may be far. It is a specialized tool.

Pictures or it never happened. :ROFLMAO: :LOL:

I saw that, there was not any mention of lubricant being used to make the purchase a little easier.

here she is in all her UGLY, definitely a speciality tool. Does absolutely nothing my 338 Lapua Ackley Improved won’t do except 338 Lapua brass is everywhere at half the price!

OK, I get it, she is an ugly duckling. I thought you had a beautiful wood stock MK-V. :ROFLMAO: I'll check on the Weatherby Forum that I'm a member of, and see if any one has any extra brass.

Cody what's the joy in that big fire breather that belts you harder than Mike Tyson, takes half a bucket of powder and can shoot shit at a mile and a half . With an 11.5 pound rifle it ain't the sort of thing you lug around the bush.
To each their own, hope you get some brass and have some fun.
You must have spent time playing that pianee at the brothel and had a go at sado- mechanism to get to enjoy the 338/378.
I can think of better ways to spend an afternoon than being slapped silly with that thing.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha

Mate a lot of people think I'm a specialised tool, but I would get no joy in that thing. Doesn't even look like it has a nice tanker brake to tame the recoil.
Ouch.

I’ve got some big Weatherby brass, not all with 338-378 headstamp. I’ll see how much I have. How much are you looking for? I bought a bunch of it years ago at great prices. I’m not looking make a fortune on it. If you have an old action, a trade would be great (Mauser; 1910 Mexican, 1909 Argentine, FN single shot, CZ550 for 300 H&H, 1917 Enfield/Remington Model 30 Express. Maybe some other interesting action).

I just looked at Gunbroker. Seven bucks apiece is ridiculous. So is six.

@Bullthrower338 what scope are you going to put on that beast? That would be a great rifle for that special high point in Montana where all the shots are 400+ yards (And for shooting through engine blocks in a zombie apocalypse).
Got a 2.4-16x56mm Leica Magnus that I think will make a good set up.

Haha, 11.5 is not that bad to lug around. It's way better than my field match rifle that is 19.5#s

@Tra3
Mate he needs at least a nightforce variable that goes clear up to 50 power so he can shoot clear into the next state with that big boomer.

Hahaha! I get so confused on if this is a “rat caliber” or what? I suspect that this caliber has enough power to shoot a 200 grain bullet into tomorrow.

@Inline6
That's about 10# heavier than my heaviest field rifle. Hell a fully loaded WW11 BAR only went a smidge over 20# . Hope you don't have to carry the dam thing to far.

Not sure your price range. Have a 375 H&H with a muzzle brake. Nice rifle only fired a few times. Also a Mossberg 375 Ruger its been used and shows a few hunts on it.
Two African Safaris Hunted South Africa both times,
9 game animals taken
Has anybody hunted with Phumba safari in steenbokpan south Africa?
