One of my vises, my Grandfather made in the 1940's for my father and it will last me out as well as another generation or two. I think of them often when I am using it.

I have just made a pattern for a piggyback sheath that will have the big game hunter in the main sheath with a field scalpel in the piggy back. It will have a set of chicago screws to fix a strap that will go through the belt loop of the field scalpel sheath and round the main sheath so that it can be taken off and used as a single sheath in its own right. I will get one put together together with the two knives next week to show here. This will be a first of this concept for me and I want to offer one that is not as bulky as some I have seen.

Garry, I took the knife you made for me on my recent elk/deer hunt in Montana. It got bloodied on a bull elk and my guide said it was the sharpest knife he had ever used, including a Havalon and was still sharp after field dressing and quartering the elk. The guide also raved about the handle and the really good feel and grip. I ended up giving the knife to the guide, so I will be ordering another one from you soon. Will wait to see your piggyback design.

Very pleased to hear that thanks Dave. Should get the sheath system done today. I made one up yesterday but there were a few things I didn't like about it so will change the pattern a bit and try again. Often the way with new designs that there are a trial or two before the bugs are ironed out.

I still want to make a few tweaks but this is essentially what I will be doing. Cant see any way to make it any smaller and still have the detachable scalple sheath.

Garry, I received my two knife set today. It was sitting on the porch when we went to church. The package may have been delivered yesterday afternoon or early this morning. Both knives look great. For someone doing their own "field dressing" and or preparation for "pack out" this set will be perfect. I hope they wind up being a good seller for you.

Thanks Art. They should cover about all chores for a hunter although a couple have ordered the field scalpel along with the hunter/butcher and boning knife for a 3 knife set to cover some of the finer work that is sometiimes encountered.

I really like the size, looks and feel of the boning knife. It could easily become my EDC when I'm in the field. Although either would work, I think I'd prefer it over the Safari knife.

I am just putting the handles on this one which was an order for the boning knife but with the blade 3/4 in longer and 1/4 in wider. He wants it as a do everything field knife.

I am also offering lifetime (my workable lifetime that is) free sharpening for any of my knives with the owner to pay shipping both ways.

I can see why. Your designs keep getting better and better. Glad to hear about the free sharpening.

A little more leatherwork this morning
LrKAxM5l.jpg

To get them ready for these knives that just need thier final sharpening before shipping. I tried a couple of different backgrounds for the pics this time. All blades are either 1075 or 1084

A new design that is a longer and wider boning knife as a EDC in consultation with NZ client so has rimu scales

That is a good looking general purpose knife. Is that the one that was a little longer and a little wider than the boning knife in the two knife set? Pretty soon you are going to have to offer a catalogue of the various styles of knives you have available.

Thanks Art and yes this is the morphed boning knife. I am going to have to do something in the way of a portfolio but not sure how to go about that as yet. I dont have a website and may just have to look into that at some stage.

How much would it cost me for one of those "morphed" knives with a brass bolster and buff horn handle?

Ok, put it on the book. No hurry, after you finish working on the rifles will be fine.

Hey everyone..rookie mistake here. Packing to leave tomorrow and I have no idea JNB policy for bringing I cigarettes. Yes I know a smoker, plan on taking 4 cartons if able. Any advice please. Will be greeted by Mr X to ease custom’s hassle. Thanks in advance !
Hi,

Glade to hear from you and that you have kept me in mind.

I hope all is well and the hunting has been good.

Everything is fairly good.

The 2 fellows that I had lined up for this great hunt opportunity have backed out.

I'm in the process of purchasing a new house and having knee surgery, or surgeries depending on the left knee MRI, hopefully I can get back to Africa as early as 2024.
I'm concerned about Australia's indigenous species that are being killed by feral cats. Is anyone aware of any hunts I can joining to go to Australia to take a few shots at feral cats.
