Best order update! I see one of my knives in there! Really looking forward to them arriving!! Never thought buying a custom knife would be so exciting. Just like waiting for a new rifle!

Thanks

Duncan

I had some great feedback the other day that has caused me to modify the grayling knife pattern. Thanks to @ActionBob the pattern has had much of the belly removed to make it a finer blade for the smaller fish.

The pattern as it was

and after the change to the belly

Sheaths all made and ready for the hot waxing with the blades getting an edge so they can be shipped off.

Reminiscent of the improvements that have occurred to the 25 year old red handled Case trapper, compared to a virtually new white handled model, which is actually how the red one looked when new.

It really is only the skinning process that requires a little belly in the blade but for everything else a straighter blade will accomplish most tasks

I love the trout knife, @Von Gruff ! It would be really neat if it could get a folding hook hidden in the butt to become a “trout and grouse” knife. (The hook being to pull the innards from the bird after cutting the vent with the blade. Have you ever made one with a gut hook?

No, not done the gut hook and never done a folding part to a fixed blade.

I once had a knife that had a spoon formed into the handle. It was a Gerber Coho. It was for fishing and supposedly the user would open the fish with the long filet blade then turn the knife around and use the spoon to scrape out the guts and backbone blood vein. I tried it once and just about stabbed myself - the blade is pointed right back along the users arm while trying to use the spoon. I no longer have that knife and for similar reasons I don't use a knife with other multi-purpose fixtures in the handle. a knife is used to cut. I see no reason to incorporate uses into a knife that are better served by a separate tool. but then, that's just my opinion.

this is the grayling compared to the bird and trout and the standard fisherman. We would always use the slight belly to clean the fish gut with a single swipe down each side with the belly against the riband the point almost on the underside of the backbone

Von Gruff, here is a photo of the vintage Cold Steel Carbon V Tanto. I mentioned a couple of day ago.
The asking price for it and a sheath is $284.00

Von Gruff, really excited to see the knives with my name on them. One is for my wife and the other for me. Excellent craftsmanship. Can’t wait to see and hold them. Thanks for posting these pictures.

Yes, I am interested in some A Frames to load, if they are the 300 grain or other that will work for Cape Buff. I need enough to work up a load and sight in, then carry over there
