A couple of sheaths this morning then got a few more stainless blades hardened and had a bit of time left so made a holder for a little crucible I got to try a bit of smelting and casting with bronze. I got the pouring clamps for the crucible but it is way too short for getting it attached to the crucible in the forge so cut this out and have the handle epoxied on and curing overnight. May not get to it for a while but when time allows I now have everything in place.

After a few days away from the shed was able to get back in there and finish the hand sanding on this order of NitroV kitchen and fishing knives. A new one 3rd from the left is primarily for peeling a piece of fruit or taking a slice or two from a stick of biltong.

First pair with one having Lacewood black spacers and brass with the other having resin ivory with black spacers and stainless. A sivler ring on the ivory knife for a bit more bling with less belly in the blade as requested.

As some of you know, Gary and I collaborated a bit on the knife he catalogues as his JT Ranger. One of them has accompanied me on travel in checked baggage (hunting or otherwise) ever since. I finally persuaded myself that I needed a more traditional hunting knife by him as well. When he unveiled his Wapiti hunter, I knew I had found it. It arrived a couple of days ago, and is everything I hoped it would be with just the right heft for North American game.

I was sent these two pics this morning from a recent hunt where one of my PH EDC's was put to work after the 458 Lott had grassed the big bull.

Todays exercise was to grind the bevels in on these two (hardened and tempered) and get them handsanded.

A word of caution to all Von Gruff knife owners. If you loan your knife to anyone for any reason, make sure you get it back. Non owners using these for the first time are likely to forget where it came from!!

I have had a few re-orders for knives that have been gifted to guides who have made positive comments after they used them to dress an animal. But then there are the emails I get like this one yesterday from a member/friend who knows where his knife is every second.

I’ve had the opportunity to hunt quite a bit for meat this year. The drought here is bad and farmers wants to reduce the grazing load so Impala is quite available for the meat hunters like me.
I’ve used the mini skinner a lot and I’m most impressed that there is no tiredness in my hand after I have used it for a while. Other knives I’ve used in the past have made my hand aching.
Thanks for the dedication you’ve shown when you made my knife. Know that it accompanies me on all the trips out, although much of the slaughtering work is done by the farm workers I still do quite a bit myself.

I got a new toy to play with and started to get it put together today. I got a good cast iron mill table at a great price a while back so bought a mill head to complete the unit. Built a cupboard and bolted it to the floor to make sure there is no movment then screwed a 3/8 steel plate on top to bolt the mill table to. Have got everything drilled and tapped and just have to weld a length of 6x2 box and a 6x1/2 plate to bolt the mill head to. Will get that done tomorrow if all goes well and it will be all ready for assembly.

I don't know where you're located, but I'd be happy to let you try out my Krieghoff. I'm located in West Tennessee and the local gun club has a skeet layout and is located not far from my farm. We're about five miles from the Kentucky state line and about 100 miles west of Nashville.
I just joined today, I live in Louisiana. I joined mostly because of all of the 35 Whelen discussion as I am now very interested In the 35 Whelen. I have an 1885 Highwall that J.E.S.S. rebored to 35 Whelen

Also own 338s 375 and both a 416 rem and Rigby
