Hopefully get to take these two to Africa one day. Both are Steyr-Mannlicher Model M Professionals. A .30-06 with a Kahles 6x scope and a 9.3x62mm with a Mannlicher 1.75x5 scope. I need to add iron sights to the 9.3 just because I think it deserves them

Beautiful rifles. Did you take the Whitetail with a neck shot?

The argument has been made several times that one could take only a .375 (or 9.3mm) caliber rifle and be confident on all game. Especially with iron sights added to the 9.3x62.

Obviously it's your choice, but you have the option to lighten your load to just one rifle with two types of ammo (premium expanding softs and solids). Solids for the smaller antelope, softs for everything else. This would also lighten your load when it comes to ammo.

I have always thought the 9.3 would be a great “one rifle Safari” candidate. With 250 gr AccuBonds it doesn’t give up much in trajectory to the ‘06. The deer was a neck shot, the first time I have ever shot one in the neck. It worked very well. It is funny but I have had that deer on camera for four years with the same rack and never saw him in the daylight until that day.

Ronnie, IMHO your two gun battery is just about perfect for a PG Safari. On his first safari my son took a 35 Whelen (which is ballistically identical to the 9.3 x 62) and an '06. No issues whatsoever.

Not to highjack your thread but here is my two gun African battery: .30-06 on top and .416 Rem Mag on bottom. However, like BeeMaa alluded, my one gun African battery is a .375 H&H.

I would like to shoot a few critters with this one and I know the caliber has been used with great results on Cape Buffalo. It is a .410 GNR
