MSRP vs Street price of new Win 70 safari 375

I picked up a new m70 in 375 but it’s the “Alaskan”
Blued action, iron sights and wood stock.
$1500 out the door at my Local shop

Mines a new production Alaskan model as well and it came with high polish bluing and super slick action. Did yours?

Maybe just the safari model has the matte bluing?

Yes high polish and smooth as glass. I havnt weighed it but its LIGHT

Yes, the african model has a low glare matte finish. A few seconds with a hard arkansas machinist file and 1500 grit sandpaper smoothed out the magazine lips and now it feeds like glass. The matte finish is really just sand blasted bluing. Nothing really special. It's a bit more matte than the old fashioned rust blue found on the old guns. (If I thought I could do it, I would have loved to do a rust blue.)

I Guess I was lucky with mine. I paid $1800 cash out the door for a new in box 375 safari express 2022 production. I had the choice between the 375 or a 458 that also happened to come in the same shipment. I believe it is a quality rifle for that price and would paid up to $2500 for the some quality in a 458 or 416 should one become available and if I were looking.

OK, update: I just won an auction for the Nikon Monarch 3 1-4x20... though it's with the BDC reticle. Should still be just as tough but less... dangerous gamey? Would swap at a later date but now I have something to mount and honestly I think the Talley rings for 1" scopes look better with that single screw design. Next, I'm sending off to MNR custom rifles to get their custom talley mounts made and installed: there's a video of their mounts linked below. The price I was quoted last summer was 600 with matte bluing.
