@Altitude sickness and I hosted Ian, Brian, and Kristen of the Montana Rifle Company for a “user test” of a pre-production example of the new MRC Tsavo Rifle in .375 H&H. It is a really nice rifle featuring;

• 4 round magazine in .375 H&H
• 23” barrel
• Removable muzzle brake
• Cerakote finish
• Uses M70 Classic scope bases
• Very nice wood with a “vacuum” impregnated finish
• A bunch of other features that I didn’t take notes on… J
• Retail price when available, $3295

We shot at 50 yards off the standing rest and at 15 to 20 yards for rapid fire. We took a lot of videos but for now, I will post some stills.

Guess what I just bought? Yep, The MRC TSAVO .375. I bought it from an online store, I hope the wood in mine is as nice as this one.

Tsavos are shipping out pretty regularly, and I'm very excited to get them into hunters' hands. I think we're close to selling out the first 50 guns! More stocks are on order and expected in a month or so.

I'm trying to schedule up a play date with @Mark A Ouellette to see and shoot some production rifles. Unfortunately, they're shipping out as fast as we can make them. We also don't want to put bases on finished guns to avoid marring the Cerakote. I'm going to take the final proto rifle over to his range to run rounds through. That rifle is identical to the production guns with the exception of the finish. It's a satin H series finish, and we switched to a higher gloss Elite series that looks more like polished blue.

The 1st article stock for the Tsavo's all weather sibling is due in from McMillan any time and we'll be releasing it for production mid summer.

I bought mine yesterday on line from Elk County guns and ammo in PA. The wood stock in the picture did not look as nice as the pics in this thread. I’m hoping it’s just the light in the picture or it was a stock photo. Are all the stocks nicely figured?

The stocks do vary in figuring. The fancy/AA grade we spec has very good character, but some are a little more/less on the figuring.

Hello all. Just got registered and I was referred by Mr Ian from MRC. I would like to tell you why I personally ordered a Tsavo (check the dealer locator, I ended up calling MRC because their dealer list needed updating, a dealer can order you any of their current production rifles). I was at the SLC hunting Expo in Feb all four days with an outfitter I have hunted with several times and he introduced me to Ian and everyone in their booth. He then picked up the Tsavo on display and handed it to me then told me to lift the bolt. I had the rifle tipped up, when I lifted the bolt handle it just slid right out of my hand and my jaw dropped. Ian was looking at me, chuckled and said “yeah that’s what most people do”. Holding, swinging and shouldering it, the rifle just FIT me (6’1”, 225 with long arms). Will it fit everyone better than all other rifles, no. I have several custom built rifles of various calibers and would put the Tsavo up against all of them for fit and especially finish for a production rifle. Over the next 3 days I probably cycled the bolt on the rifle no less than a couple 100 times. I also asked Ian just as many questions about why he did this and that on the Tsavo. Gladly he never asked me to leave nor did the G5 crew (a very nice family that is committed to the outdoors). I also brought several friends over to the booth to show them what I had been telling them about. Ian then took the rifle down to show me the trigger workings. Then took the bolt apart to show me the extractor, firing pin and how the safety is taken apart. What this all boils down to is that I have always wanted a 375 H&H but had never found the ‘one’ that I would actually buy. Since the show I have talked with Ian multiple times since ordering the rifle. He has been very upfront on the struggles they have been having with the production delays. Ian has also shared some pictures of the groups that the Tsavo has made at the range, very impressive. Will it be for everyone, of course not, but for the price I don’t think it can be beat. Can’t wait to try it out in a few weeks when mine is built. Just my opine and don’t want to argue or ruffle feathers.

MRC has advertised it at 8 pounds with no scope. They have not advertised a LOP but when I was doing my pre-purchase research another forum said 13.5.
