Had an absolutely great trip just south of Sonoyota Mexico with the Extreme Desert group. Silvia Torres has a fantastic team. We hunted on a ranch just off Hwy 2 literally 25 mins south of the border. They met me at the Phoenix airport and provided transportation to the base camp.

The accommodations were first class. The hunters room had a large balcony upstairs and downstairs is the kitchen and dining area.

Because of her relationships at the Border crossings everything went quick and easy. Yes, I did take my rifle with me.

The hunting was awesome. Mornings began glassing from the stream-beds until a quality ram was found. Then it was off to the stalk. While she and others stayed at the glassing, others would go with me and the guide to certain points of the climb and guide us to the rams as they lived along the mountain tops. Highly organized.

The treks were brutal in the mountains. Exactly what one wanted ( at least me). We saw an great number of rams and didn’t fail to find at least one biggie to stalk each day. I was fortunate that on the forth day our target decided to take a nap while we climbed.

So, now to the Stone in 2019 and bighorn in 2020.

Congratulations, beautiful ram! How'd you enjoy the cholla cactus? Evil they are.

Thanks for sharing the report. I enjoy seeing pictures of the hunting area right along side the success pictures.
Congratulations on a nice ram.

Beautiful, congratulations on your ram and the hunt of a life time.

Graba...........thanks for the report and some very good fotos. Good to hear positive things on a Mexican hunt. What other animals did you see in that rugged terrain? Lots of cholla, so maybe some deer? Aoudad? Congrats.........................FWB

Congratulations! Mexico is a wonderful place to hunt!

Great photos of the beautiful terrain! And one awesome looking sheep! Congratulations and thanks for sharing!

A great report on a fantastic hunt (just like you wanted it) scenic photos along with a very nice Ram. To help others thinking about a similar hunt can you share a "ball-park" price for the package?

Congrats on a beautiful ram. Thats a hunt that many of us would love to do. Sounds like your lined up to complete your slam in the near future. Thanks for sharing.

I had to pull stuff out of my legs and arms most nights and the Cholla pretty much ripped my sleeves to bits. good headlight and tweezers are a must pack item

javelina down in/near the stream beds and a couple of Couse deer. Mulies were across the highway in the scrub-land areas.

Don't be surprised that you missed some, most likely you did. Your body has a way of pushing these little bits of thorn back towards the surface, just takes a little while.

sorry if this posts twice-tried on the handheld.

I stalk online auctions of the different SCI/Sheep clubs during their fundraising auctions. I got this trip at auction.

My non scientific research told me that between $40,00 to $45,000 was a typical range. For me, and me alone, i use a 10% tip amount for most all my hunts. I used that for this trip but for the range mentioned, not what i paid at auction. I could of added mule for $10,000 and Couse for $5000. I flew into Phoenix where they picked me up and we drove 3.5 hrs to the ranch. So, my transportation costs were only my SWAL flight Gotta-Get-Away tickets.

everyone except the cook participated in the hunt by either glassing, trekking to spotting points to give directions on the stalk or carried out the meat after the harvest ( and, i should mention they carried a lot of Tecate to the top for an on-the-spot celebration before pictures and skinning). heck, even the ranch owner climbed up w a pack full of jerky and beer.

Yikes!!! I think I'll stick to hunting in Africa.

Congrats, a nice ram !

Great pics, both scenery and animal. I checked out the web page. I know if a price list is missing it is well out of my league. Lol.

Keep stalking the auctions

Congratulations and awesome sheep! This is a dream hunt for me. I wish I was hunting sheep every year! Cant wait to read about how you plan to get your slam.

Silvia is great, know a few people who have hunted with her. All have had great things to say.

The Eastern Chapter of the Wild Sheep is having a raffle for a Desert Sheep hunt with her, only 300 tickets will be sold, going to post all the details in the new year, but a least gives you a decent chance without auction stalking.

Outstanding idea!!

Oh wow!! Congrats and thanks for sharing!
