I appreciated the review that Rookhawk posted recently on the Zeiss V4 1-4. It sounded like that is a hard one to beat close to that price range. I wanted to share my initial impressions of a scope that I recently acquired in this same price range that I feel is worth taking a look at. I do not have any stake in Meopta or any other manufacturer or distributer for that matter. This post has nothing to do with irons vs low power optics or if 6x is a need, or just a luxury.
I prefer a straight tube scope with capped turrets and a more traditional reticle like a #1, #4, plex, or something close to those on my hunting rifles. A lot of the low powered variables you see these days have features made more for tactical applications. This Optika6 1-6x24 could benefit from a longer tube at least for me, which you will see in the photos. I doubt that I could bridge a CZ-550 magnum action with this thing without a one piece base. I would also like the thin section of the cross hairs to be just a bit "heavier". The illumination is daylight visible and has a stop between each position. The illumination control knob is located on the left of the scope body. The dot in the one that I have doesn't "bleed" which is really nice. I did not weigh this scope but it feels every bit as heavy as my Swarovski Z8i, S&B Exos 1-8, or Trijicon Accupoint 1-6 which flank this model in one of the photos. The second photo is this scope mounted on a Winchester model 70 in .375 H&H. The Leupold VX-6HD is lighter for sure if shaving ounces is a factor for you. I can't say anything about warranty service or durability as I just picked this up and most of my shooting is done in the summer months. This thing appears to built like a tank, but time will tell. Not bad for $500 bucks so far.

I’ve had good luck with Meopta scopes, thanks for the review Dirtdart

I have one Meopta scope and one binocular. The scope is my favorite of the ones I own which include Leupold, Zeiss, Burris, Bushnell and Clearidge. The binoculars are my favorite too but are the only binoculars I’ve ever owned so I have nothing to compare them to.

How has this been turning out? Considering the optika 6 on my m70 in 375 H&H.

I've been window shopping the various Meopta models as well. In my case it would be for a CZ 9.3x62. I have very little first hand experience with Meopta and would love to hear more.

It seems like the BDC 3 reticle could be a good choice, in part because it "appears" to be a little thicker.
