After reading the very different answers on the topic, my question about what is meant by Mauser M98 seems justified. Some people, one in particular, should consider their opinions before posting their comments on a post.
I can see where the question would appear vague just asking opinions of M98's, and do not think the OP was trying to waste anyone's time, effort or even annoy. To be fair, the OP did include reference to "recent" within his inquiry, granted that also came with the inherent vagueness in allowing interpretation or guess as to whether he meant a recent purchase of any M98 or purchase of a recently manufactured or current production M98.
I always try to read posts with an eye towards folks sharing their love, interest, or good faith search for information about firearms and/or hunting. And how, if possible, can I help or add to the conversation, and in return, I often learn as well.
Here, the initial response inquiring how recent, and reply of essentially ongoing, I think fairly helps clarify he was hoping to see photographs of Mauser's new rifles. Mauser is marketing the Das Original versions as being some kind of brand new rendition, but also seems to match those of the last several years, so I am unclear as well, but from the question I figured that is what he was looking to find more information about. If he wanted photos of older, vintage commercial, and/or mil-surp actions converted into customs, that seemed like a more labored interpretation.
End of the day, we all ask questions and hopefully give information with an eye towards sharing experience in these topics of shared interests. Hopefully not for purposes of creating or furthering argument. At times some questions can seem repetitive or even too vague to even ascertain what exactly is being asked, lord knows I have asked inartful questions at times as well. None of us are perfect, if we were, we would have no reason to be here let alone participate in a group forums.
Hope the OP finds some of the information helpful. Mauser should have several levels of their current manufacture M98's at SCI if making that show. There were also a number of the new M98's that the Fort Worth Cabelas got right after the Texas Trophy Hunters show...I kind of assumed it might have had some link to Mauser having a booth there and bringing rifles down to Texas for the event, but honestly also why one should not assume, could just be where they landed. They have since seemed to disperse, so might find one local to you to put hands on. There are a number of photos of each of those rifles on their website as well...thinking they have several of the 375's and one or more of the 300s.
Good luck and would also enjoy seeing some additional photos of Mauser's more recently manufactured M98's, say from 2015 forward. They really do seem to have made significant strides in their stock wood and finish. Given how deadnuts accurate my Rigby is, I have to expect that Mauser's full builds would prove the same.
