Many cheap hunts vs only one very expensive premium hunt in a lifetime

To me it is not about premium or non premium it is about the vision I desire for just myself, the Big 5. I got the buff, elephant and hopefully my last which is leopard with no fences truly wild. I can’t afford a wild lion so took a well researched CBL lion as well as a well researched dart hunt for Rhino where I fired the sleep dart nit some vita dart. I don’t care about any of the other slams. My vision coupled with affordability drives my hun choices nothing else. Just me
Well said, hopefully you'll be able to complete your quest for the Big 5 as time and finances allow.

Regardless of my financial and or my personal choices I choose to hunt "where and when" I want to hunt regardless of others opinions !! I just wish that "we" as a community of hunters could simply learn to live with their own "personal decisions" as opposed their "self serving opinions" of others hunting choices. Simply stated "I do for me and you do for you". Personally I could give a damn about when, what, where or why, they hunt provided it's done "legally" !!

This has been a much better forum for the last year or so since the “If it’s legal all hunters should blindly support it” argument has largely faded. I don’t see the need to bring it back now or how it had any relevance to the discussion until you felt the self serving need to bring it up.

Just because the animal is huntable, doesn't mean one has to make the kill shot. Sometimes just be able to watch and/or shooting it with a camera is gratifying enough.
So true. I wanted a black bear with my Black Widow custom recurve with my handmade wood arrows and zwicky hand sharpened broad heads in New Foundland CD. He came in at 10 yards and I drew but for some reason I can’t explain I let him walk yet was very satisfied with the hunt and ecperience

For those saying “invest and hunt off the interest” or “Save for that someday hunt”

I’m not saying you are wrong but hunt prices are anything but static; North American hunts have shown that clearly over the last decade.

Consider this, you save a percentage and keep saving and some day arrives and you’re priced out of the hunt or species is closed.

With the same outfitter in Zim the cost of a 10day buff hunt is up 25% in 3 years, so the hunting investment fund has to beat 8.33% annually to break even….. if trends continue.

Yep it's funny, while researching outfits in 2018, I'd find the same hunts offered 8-10 years prior so what I'd consider so cheap. Now I look at the same hunts offered around 2018 and I think they're so cheap.

A friend said that just the other day when I was pondering about going. Book now cause it'll only get more expensive. Truer woods haven't been spoken

In some ways I needed to come to South Africa to become a more experienced hunter, to get better at shot placement, better at judging animals, better at stalking, to become more confident in my decisions, as well as learning how to take instruction without allowing my ego to interfere. A lot of this was done on High Fenced properties over several years and many hunts. That’s part of the value of PG hunting on large and well managed properties.

I’m at the point now where I’m going to different countries to hunt and have new experiences, but that doesn’t diminish any of my previous efforts and experiences! It continues to add to it.

There are plenty of “bootstrap stories” to be told by honorable members here, but who the hell wants to hear about it when any one of us could have lived with less or significantly more challenging circumstances. I’ll reserve my empathetic ear for our veterans!

To each their own…

My first hunt in SA was a simple PG hunt. I had a blast of a time. I was lucky enough to have been taken on a 3 week photo safari during college by my grandparents in Kenya and Tanzania. My next hunt will probably be a cull hunt because I do not have the room in our house for more mounts and I simply want to go back to Africa to hunt. After that though, it’s Buffalo or nothing. All will happen (lord willing) in time.

See you are from Denmark - see quite a few Danes where I stalk in Scotland - great hunters.
The Harkilia stuff works well in Africa - I have a bit for use here in UK.
I am again looking for 600 Nitro dies preferably RCBS 1 inch. The set I purchased previously are 1 1/2 inch and do not fit my die. Another member has graciously taken them off my hands. If anyone happens to have a set of 600 Nitro Dies that will fit my Rockchucker Supreme RCBS press, please shoot me a message and thanks in advance for any assistance you may have to offer!
I have not posted any items for sale on this forum and will not every put anything for sale. My account was hacked and I've worked with the admin to get things shut down.
