My wife and I are bringing my nephew to England for his first time out of the country and what will hopefully be his second deer…

Recommendations for a taxi/exporter? We used Philip Leggett last time and did a great job but just happened to be who our guide worked with. Talking to guide, said his lead times are getting long so exploring other options.

Hunting muntjac and CWD mainly. Just want skins and skulls shipped back for taxidermy in the states.

Hunting old warden then Norfolk and obviously ending up in London for flight. So something in driving distance would be great or can freeze and mail where needed.

Thanks
Dale

G J Knight taxidermy in Burnham, Essex has a good reputation. You would be driving roughly past on your way down to London from Norfolk. Unsure on shipping to the USA - I have posted boiled and cleaned skulls to Canada no problem but unsure of the steps for skins to the US.

I would strongly advise you to get taxidermy work done in the UK, by a taxidermist familiar with the species. CWD and Muntjac are very unique looking deer and you want someone with experience with them to get the look right. I have seen work done by taxidermists in other countries on these deer and they looked utterly terrible.

I know the UK isn’t Africa but same concern if i have any issues with quality of mount there’s nothing I can do about it. I agree I was showing my nephew some mount pics and they just looked “wrong” so I see the point.

I agree with @UKHunter , I toured a couple of trophy rooms recently and almost all of the taxidermy was beautiful and really well done . The 2 exceptions were Chinese water deer and muntjac.
I’ve also seen roe deer that were not done very well.
They looked like they were just thrown together, the same taxidermist did all of the mammal mounts so I don’t know what happened on the two, the waterfowl in same collections were hit and miss as well. Some good some not so much.
Just my opinion of course.

Have you dealt with Steve Newcombe or ever heard of him? Not 100% if he's situated in London though.

Ive not personally used him (I prefer skull mounts) but I have seen a lot of positive reviews on a UK based deer stalking forum (not allowed to name based on forum rules here) and seen some of his work first hand which looked good.

I would advise the OP to use the search function on that forum to do some further research.
