Lion Hunting Packages 2024 - South Africa

Not necessarily. I don't want to derail the thread but that is just not completely accurate...
A wild lion in Zambia with legit outfitters will cost +- $75,000 and one in Tanzania is even more

My $50,000 + cost was a hunt i saw in Zim that would include bait animals. the key is even if you can afford that cost, i cannot, can you get quota for it even at that price. also considering the heavy jess in Zim don’t expect a beautiful heavy mane animal

I guess I should've taken Dalton up on his offer on that Lion roaring behind camp. LOL!

Too funny!!! isn’t that the way it is. At that time they had no quota left for one yet we heard them close to camp every night. lol!!!

I spent $25,000 in Tanzania to add lion and 5 days.

I think it was a heck of a good deal! It was late in a short season that had started off with unprecedented rains making early hunts very difficult. The Outfitter had quota left so gave us a deal. The area was some of the best for leopard and lion. We saw sign regularly. It was during the second Covid-19 season so not hunted hard during that time. I got an old cat with busted teeth but a good mane for a wild cat.

It was added onto a leopard/buffalo/PG hunt. So already had the full license as in Tanzania the license is the same for a 16 day and 21 day hunt.. it added up to almost $100k for the total hunt,, But we got a lot of high end critters. Sable, Roan, couple buffalo, leopard, 17 critters total. All wild roaming millions of unfenced really wild acres of Africa with no resident Humans and zero livestock.. So yea need to save up, it will be 3 years since we've been back. But the memories of that hunt are timeless.

As mentioned if you go on a 20k hunt and do all the taxidermy on an annual basis. Save that for 3 years and you can do a full bag 21 day Tanzania hunt like we did.

In any case, I don't think that deal is available today. Probably more like 35k.

I would not book a dedicated wild lion hunt for the prices referenced. I would, and probably will do another add on lion, for my wife this time. We know a great Outfitter;)

I should also mention as @TOBY458 mentioned, offers do happen. I've had two other add on offers in Zimbabwe for $20k on hunts i was shopping but haven't gone on, yet;) Thecchances for success in those areas was not high but it was possible.

For those that want to hunt lion in South Africa I would strongly suggest taking a deal like that offered here. Many guys seem to really enjoy it. Especially those who understand what it is and go for the experience without any reservations. Shop around but go with an honest Outfitter who admits what it is. I cannot recommend a "wild" lion hunt in RSA... Unless you really enjoy fairy tales.

do what i did…fabulous hunt, see my posted video on here where the lion charged me dropping at 7 yards, take great pictures with a good camera, then have your best picture oil painted on canvass and hang in your office

I went looking for this post to see the painting again and show my wife as I really like it. Can you pm me who you had do it. I got lost on the other lion thread and forgot all about this one . Maybe not even for lion but this may be a great thing for an office with another animal

Hi Lance, Hope you well. I collect Mauser rifles and they are very much part of my cultural history in Africa. Would you consider selling the rifle now a year on ? I'd like to place it in my collection of Mauser rifles. Many thx

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks
Mike
