The Timbavati Private Nature Reserve in the Lowveld of Mpumalanga is part of the Greater Kruger National Park, with no fences that separate the reserve from the actual Kruger National Park.

Animals roam freely between several reserves and make this area one of the most pristine hunting destinations for dangerous game in Africa.

• The Lowveld is without a doubt the area in South Africa that has earned the reputation as the best in the world for hunting dangerous game.
• In days gone by, this was the place to go if you wanted to hunt any of the "Big 5" animals.
• The Timbavati Nature Reserve is part of a larger open wildlife system that spans 6 million acres and is teeming with a wide range of antelope species, enormous herds of buffalo and elephant, prides of lions, hippos, and rhinoceros, and more.
• The reserve is a first and foremost dedicated conservation area where limited, controlled, and sustainable hunting contributes immensely to its management budget as well as rhino protection.
• The ecological integrity of the reserve is a priority for the management team, and it allows for hunting in a manner that is limited, controlled, and sustainable.
• This is a high-priced hunting opportunity, and hunting permits are limited to just a certain number annually.

The Package​

Only two of these packages are available in the Timbavati Private Nature Reserve in the Greater Kruger National Park open system in Limpopo Province of South Africa.

This package is only available to hunt in February and March 2023.

Each trophy package is suitable for one hunter and includes a Buffalo (female) and Hippopotamus (male).

An African Hunts & Safaris representative will fetch you from the Eastgate Airport near Hoedspruit, Limpopo, for an 8-day and 7-night hunting safari, giving you 7 hunting days.

The package costs $16 300, and one additional hunter can be accommodated at a total rate of $2275.

Additional observers (non-hunters) can join the safari at a total rate of $1750.

This package can be upgraded to include additional animals in the surrounding Hoedspruit area. Enquire about this when booking your hunt.
