LOL.....uh, yeah, we won't discuss when I was born.....

My first trip into Canada was back in '81 or '82. Carter was still in office, gas here in the states was somewhere around $1.25 to $1.75 (USD) per (9/10ths or what we refer to as a) gallon of gas.

I entered Canada at Sault Ste. Marie, exchanged USD for CAD at $1.25 to $1.00USD. from there down to Thessalon, where I stopped to refuel my truck. I was aw struck that gas was at a sensible price of $.75CAD.....Ah Sh't!....per liter....not per gallon, doing the math, that put gas at over $2.00USD per US gallon.

When Carter and US petroleum companies tried to put the US on the metric system people quickly realized how much more fuel was costing.

That metric system idea didn't last but a month or two.

When I was in the 6th grade in 1955 they were teaching us the metric system, I remember my teacher saying by 1960 the US would adopt the metric system. Maybe she meant 2060.
