KWALATA SAFARIS, Waterberg Wilderness Reserve. A New Home For Us In South Africa!

It really sounds like a great place to hunt.
No doubt, trophy quality is exceptional and due to zero hunting pressure the interaction (big game) witnessed is incredible.

my best always
Jaco

Jaco, congrats on your new opportunity and adventure! Looks like something very special and unique. When will you begin operations in this area?
When able, maybe share some more details regarding the DG hunting opportunities in this area. Will there be quota allocated for all of the big 5 / dangerous 7?

Very impressive. Looking forward to seeing more.

Good morning AH members and visitors.

It is with great excitement that we would like to announce the relocation of our Limpopo base. Feel free to fire away with questions and to contact us with regards to, this, truly one-of-a-kind area in South Africa.

We have signed a 5-year lease with the option of first refusal after expiration of the contract.

Kwalata Waterberg Wilderness Reserve, home to the Big 5 and Dangerous 7

Kwalata’s new South African base known as the Waterberg wilderness reserve consists of 78,830 acres and is located in the Waterberg region of South Africa’s Limpopo province. The reserve is a declared provincial reserve area with a Critical Biodiversity 1 classification and a core area of the Waterberg Biosphere Reserve as officially declared by UNESCO in 2001.
Having been designated as a protected area, the primary objective lies with Natural Resource conservation. The Concession is run along pure sustainable management and development principles, with an exceptionally low developmental and tourism footprint thereby offering unrivaled exclusivity and privacy.

Our block is home to over 50 different mammals including, Elephant, Lion, Rhino, Leopard and Cape Buffalo (Big 5) as well as Hippopotamus and Crocodile (Dangerous 7). Unique predators like Cheetah and African Wild dog also hunt and roam the reserve at will.
A large Reserve of breathtaking beauty and diversity that HAS NOT BEEN HUNTED IN 3 DECADES is sure to deliver a truly wild and unrivaled experience the likes of which is to be considered unheard of in South Africa.

Kwalata offers the discerning hunter and adventure traveler the absolute best of what South Africa has to offer. The diverse terrain made up of mountainous bushveld with rivers streaking the landscape, gentle rolling hills and flat bush provides the perfect back drop to a truly wild African safari experience for both dangerous and plains game hunters. Non-hunting observers and families will find the abundant big game photographic opportunities quite spectacular. Family safaris are also complimented by breath taking river boat cruise sundowners, game drives and spa treatments (onsite).

Avid birders will relish the opportunity to identify the more than 350 bird species on the reserve!

Kwalata is proud to promote conservation through sustainable hunting and hunting related eco-tourism. We are deeply committed to conservation and research on this, one of the finest reserves in Southern Africa where the bulk of tourism income goes towards positive conservation. Every visiting guest/hunter/traveler directly supports the reserve's primary objective of conservation.

Mokolo Lodge
The Mokolo river, meaning deep and silent in the local Tswana language, threads its way along 13 miles through the reserve. It is on the banks of this mighty river, that has carved massive cliffs, sandy beaches, potholes and cascades that you will find your home in Africa, Mokolo Lodge. The Lodge is located right on the banks of the river offering an exceptionally beautiful setting for your safari.

Reminiscent of a traditional safari camp, the lodge offers a luxurious safari accommodation experience while staying true to the traditions of an African safari. Built from stone and with thatch roofs, camp offers an olde world-Africa atmosphere with all the comforts of “new world” amenities. All comforts are catered for in the plush suites and throughout the carefully appointed safari camp. The location on the river offers unobstructed views of visiting Wildlife as well as the abundant Hippo and croc population inhabiting the river.

Each en-suite room has an African Wildlife theme and accommodates two people in either Double or Twin beds dressed in white linen and African throws. Everything and more you would expect from a safari camp including in room safes, earthy colors as well as leather and dark wood finishes thereby providing suites with an understated elegance.
The olde world-Africa atmosphere is noticeable throughout, this includes your dining experience, breakfast and most lunches are served in the main lodge dining area under a thatch canopy or on the deck overlooking the beautiful Mogol river.
3-course dinners are mostly enjoyed in the Lapa/Boma next to a huge roaring fire (weather depending) or alternatively in the warm comfort of the cosey lodge. This is true African-style dining, often complimented by the roar of Lions, or the sound of Hippo calls, deep into the night.

My very best always.
Jaco Strauss.
This place sounds amazing! We can’t wait to see it! Congratulations Jaco & Lindie!

Jeff505 and I spoke with Jaco this morning. We are booked to hunt Waterberg in early June. Nyala for both and Sable for me….plus?. Excited is putting it mildly!

I told Jeff that I’ll be no use at work the rest of the day….maybe from now until we leave. Jeff said not to worry, my colleagues won’t notice. True friend that Jeff.
